I want to edit the menu that is displayed on the LCD when in a specific mode. For example, why are the commands to navigate in the navigate menu? Why not put the numbers on the LCD while in navigate mode? I tried adding some of my own commands to the menu (without trying to figure out how to remove any of the defaults) and could it did not work. The items show up as activities, and I can look at the XML which looks OK to me, but it does not show up on the remote.

Any idea how to remove items from the menus?

The specific example I am working on is this: I have an activity to record Tivo To VCR. I would like to go to that activity and have the transport and navigate buttons control the Tivo, but have some of the buttons (Like record and stop) control the VCR. I have that working, but I want to add some additional controls to the LCD screen to help facilate this, like have a button to change the recording speed on the VCR, and also to switch back and forth between the VCR and Tivo Inputs on my reciever so I can check the onscreen settings of the VCR quickly and return to the Tivo before starting the recording.

Any suggestions?

ruexp67, as I told You in a previous posting, I've done a lot of these kind of configs in my setup. If You leave an e-mail address in Your profile, I can send You one of mine XML's and do some explanations.

What You trying to do should not be difficult.

Removing items from menues are currently not possible. I've done a kind of substitutions of some of the default menuitems like this:
1) Rename the menuitem with XML-tag <RENAMEMENUITEM>
2) Digitize the IR which is original sent by that menuitem. Example: My DVD player do not have the ChapterNext command. The "Next Chapter" menuitem I've renamed to "Play Slow" and the IR for ChapterNext I've digitized from the "Play slow" button.

The Harmony does not keep the codes separate for the menu items vs. the buttons thought does it? So if the Harmony has "Menu Right" "Menu Left" etc in the LCD menu, then if I "hijack" that menu item, it will remap the actual corresponding button with my "new" code too, right? I am not sure that will work. I guess I wull just have to ask for "edit menu" as an enhancement from Harmony.

my e-mail is my handle here with @hotmail.com

(Don't want those web bots scraping my address more than they already do! :-)

Thanks for your help!

By the way, this is the XML from harmony's site for my "View TiVo" menu item. This is just to change the reciever to the TV/DBS input to view the Tivo on screen. This is in my "TiVo to DVDR" action. I replaced all the <> with [] so it will display here:

As You've probably already noticed I've sent You a e-mail about using MSN messenger.

I think You misunderstood my menuitem "hijacking". No, Harmony will not automatically remap "Menu Right" to send another code as You describe.

(I now see that a XML-tag was missing in my previos post. I've now corrected that one.)
The <RENAMEMENUITEM> part is just to rename what You actually see at Your LCD. (You can't rename by using Wizard). I've renamed most of the default menuitems to Norwegian language this way.

The next part is to digitize another IR instead of the original IR. An odd example here is the "Menu Right" as You mentioned. Ofcource, If You digitize for instance "Play" from Your original remote into the DirectionRight, Harmony will send Play instead of Right, both from the "Menu Right" menuitem in the Navigate mode and from the Right-button. (But Harmony do not "know" he send Play). Ofcource this will not be a smart thing to do: I just try to explain in another way.
