I'm almost sold on buying a sst-768 but gave a shot at a fake configuration at the harmony website programing utility to see what components where listed in their database. I was curious if my Apex DVD player was listed, since this seems to be my problem device with other universal remote controls. I believe that from what I have read, programing this remote to work with the dvd player shouldn't be a problem even though the player I have is not currently listed. It's a new model (AD-2500).
The real question is this. I noticed that there are no listings (or even a catagory) for a home theater A/V component. I own a Panasonic SA HT-400 (integrated reciever,dolby/dts decoder, and 5.1 surround sound amp). This component also acts as my AV switch, since all other components (Audio and Video) pass through the unit. The configuration utility has configurations for amps, and recievers, but no combo units. The nice thing about the Panasonic HT is that it remembers settings depending on which input is selected (ie. Digital input for Cable,DVD, Analog for Cassette Tape, and TV monitor, along with the Dolby Pro logic II or SFC settings for each input). But I still change these settings by remote depending on the program I'm watching. Usually TV (Movies vs. music etc.).
Does any one know if these functions (dolby digital and SFC) will/or can be preserved in programing the 768. All these functions can currently be performed by the Panasonic's remote.
I am looking to find a remote that will retain all of the functionality of my current 5 remote controls.

Does anyone know if this remote will be able to be configured for this type of device?

Harmony's database is kept current through users sending the remote control IR signals to the website. If your product is not listed, you'll go through the teaching process, then that model will be loaded onto the public website so that the codes will be available for everyone else. On Panasonic's website your SC HT-400 looks similar in features to the SA-HE100, which is already in the Harmony database within the Receiver devices. You'll be setting the HT-400 up as a Receiver, and the Harmony should have no difficulty operating it.

Since your Harmony will operate by switching the source inputs to the receiver, your functions (Dolby Digital, or whatever) set up within the receiver for each input will remain untouched, and will continue to operate the way they do now. You'll be able to add these functions to Harmony's buttons if you wish to access them directly. If you don't bind them to buttons, they will still be accessible through the menus that the Harmony website will build automatically into your remote.

Same thing with your Apex AD-2500--after you teach the codes (takes about 1/2 hour), it will work fine. I programmed in the codes for one of my devices, and they'll soon be out there for all to enjoy.

Send a message to Harmony at [email protected] and they will be able to confirm this for you.

I have no affiliation AT all with these guys, but I just bought my 768 from www.surfremotecontrol.com and at the time it was $30 cheaper than list, free shipping, AND a free one-for-all univeral remote.

I found the best price on the SST-768 at www.BlueDo.com and they include free next day shipping.
