Just purchased 688 to provide spouse-friendly control of new home ent system. Had problems on initial setup controlling the TV input correctly. Harmony's default input list for my Dell W5100C is correct, but there is a Back setting at the top and a Show Inputs All/Active at the bottom that were missing. This caused the inputs to cycle incorrectly from the bottom of the list (e.g. AV6 Receiver for the DVD) to the top (e.g AV3 Set Top for cable TV). Adding two additional labels at the bottom of the input list appears to have solved this. I'm not a Harmony expert, but I imagine this would apply to any model of the remotes.

I also had to change Show Inputs from Active to All, because the inputs are dynamic. E.g., if I have my PC plugged in using the VGA port, it becomes active and interferes with the input cycle. Not a big problem, but annoying if I want to change inputs outside the remote. Of course, I shouldn't need to do that too often anymore!

Does anyone know if there are discrete codes for the W5001C inputs that would allow direct selection of the desired input ports?

Thanks,
Rick Norber

Did you look at, and tried all the commands under device mode?

I have the 659 set up for my Dell LCD. The default setup by Harmony changes the Dell's inputs by going to the Input screen, then pressing the number of the wanted input, then enter. Ie: Input, 1, 1, enter...would be to go to input 11 (component 2). That way it doesn't have to cycle through at all. I didn't have to set this up as it was the default way the config was set to. I did have to adjust the ordering of the inputs slightly because Harmony setup listed DVI instead of the first HDMI and had the order of the composite and component inputs mixed up. Works fine now though.

Zzen, great tip. I was unaware that I could directly select the input. I don't believe the default setup was the way you described for your TV, but I reprogrammed, and control is much smoother now. Many thanks!
