I though this may be a Harmony database issue so I learned the volume up and down from my original remote and I still have the problem.

Using my original remote I can increment volume in single steps 0,1,2,3,4,5 etc. however, with the Harmony it goes up in double steps 2,4,6,8 etc. which is bloody annoying. It seems as if the Harmony is just sending the code too long and I suspect this is happening accross the board, as even when I reduce delay to 0ms navigating up and down the TVs menu is sloooow compared to the original remote. For some reason the Harmony is dragging it's feet and I'm wondering if it's got some predetermined minimum transmission length that in my case, is irritatingly too long and slows response times.

Anybody know what the hell I'm going on about?!

I have an 890 and one of the settings is the repeat rate. It has settings like 0 thru 5. I think I ran across it in the troubleshooting section. Using a lower value slows the repeat rate and that might help your issue. I have noticed though that this doesn't work the same through the RF Extender where the devices respond very erratically. It's like the extender goes to sleep sometimes and when you try and say, change the volume, for example, it will seem to not be responding and them all of a sudden wake up and rapidly execute all the commands from a buffer somewhere and this usually causes too much volume increase or decrease and then your going back the other way to compensate....very annoying.

Thanx for that - I dropped the repeat rate and the volume response is sorted :o)

....menu navigation is still woefully slow though c/w oem remote and my old one4all which goes up and down the menu's pretty much as fast as you can press! Very perplexing....

You might also want to look at the delay times. They may be set too long.

Already set to zero ms I'm afraid - it's a problem I'm suffering on both TV and PVR.

I'm wondering whether learning RAW codes might solve the problem - maybe the Harmony versions add some sort of additional protocol that slows the message down....or maybe the Harmony is just slow! I notice others complaining of lag.

I suppose I should email the support team really *ahem*

You may want to try search for Discrete codes in these forums, and set up a new device for Harmony Support to map the codes to.

Always worth a try.

Which delay(s) did you reduce? You need to reduce the inter-key delay AND the inter-device delays for the device in question...don't ask why, it just works!

Cheers - will try when I get home (along with the activity initial code send customising I've just leaned about - I'm almost excited about the prospect of wrestling with the online interface!! LOL)

Czzer is right. In some cases (like channel selection), both delays (inter-key and inter-device) are added together. I reported this bug to support but got no feedback yet.

Where do you find the repeat setting. I'm also having a problem with the remote increasing or decreasing the volume too much at a time.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, found it.

Devices - More Options - Troubleshoot - Show me more problems - AV Receiver doesn't appear to receive every command correctly - The device responds too much to some commands (for example, volume up increases the volume too quickly)

In other words: HIDDEN :|
