My sitting position is about 15 feet away from my equipment. I am finding that, more times than not, I end up pressing buttons on the remote (SST-768) a few times before the equipment picks up the IR signal. A few times I am actually getting up from the chair to get the remote a foot a two closer to the equipment. Anyone else having a problem with the IR transmitter not being strong enough? Is there anyway to boost the signal from the setup?

Fifteen feet shouldn't be a problem. If you've done a lot of programming in your original setup, you might try some fresh batteries to see if that makes a difference.

It's possible that one of the emitters is not working. There are two of them that are offset so that the remote will work when held in a vertical position. You might try covering each side of the window with your hand to see if it works with either side covered, as it should if both emitters are working.

JB NY, did you have to digitize your commands for your devices? Did you digitize raw commands? The commands the Harmony may be sending may not exactly be the right IR language for your device, or the raw commands may not have digitized properly. They may be close enough however to still work when you are close to your device.
Just a thought, but if you are all out of ideas, you might want to try adding, or digitizing your commands again and see if that helps.

My computer is on the other side of the basement from my HDTV. I frequently use the Harmony 768 from 30+ feet without any problems.

Ok I think I have a bad IR transmitter. There are two transmitters on the remote, the on the right (the one that points down) seems to be dead. If I cover the left side, the remote doesn't work. If I cover the right side, no problem. I guess I've got to RMA it. I bought it through www.SurfRemoteControl.com so I guess I'll be calling them tomorrow. :-(
