I am trying to find a way to provide a 30 second skip forward and a 10 second skip backward function on my H880. I actually don't see this function on the Moto original remote. Is this possible? If so, how would I go about it? Please be gentle as I am a novice in this remote control arena.

I am easier reached at [email protected]

Check all the commands under device mode (remote in front of Moto). The 10 second skip back might be named "Replay".

There is a replay button that works. Thanks! However, how does one setup a skip forward? I left a support e-mail with Logitech and never even got an acknowledgement!!

It's not a function of the 880 - it's a function of the Moto cable box. It either has the capability or not. If it does then it should be one of the commands listed in device mode.

Just had success tonight with similar equipment: 880 & Comcast/Motorola 6412. Went to "Change behavior of buttons" and for Skip Forward button, found "Advance" and assigned it. (You could assign a different button than Skip Forward, but this works for me.) Imagine my surprise when it worked since there is no "Advance" button on the original remote! I also used the "Learn Missing Command" feature to add the "Back 15 seconds" function to Skip Back.

Don't know if this will work for you, but you might give it a shot.

In the Moto DVR Boxes, the "Advance" IR Code as ecully indicated is the 30 second skip function.

Unfortunately, this command is either enabled, or disabled by your particular local cable provider, through the firmware version of your cable box. Your cable provider has the ability to disable this function in the cable box.

So what will work for some... won't work for others.

I ran into this problem over six months ago after a firmware update from the cable company. The 30 second skip stopped working, and has never worked since. :-(
