My cable box controls the changing of my tv channels. The CH up and CH down hard buttons work fine, however I can not change TV channels with the numbered hard buttons. In fact none of the 0-9 hard buttons work for any of my activities. My cable box is not listed in the Harmony data base so I had to learn the IR controls. This worked since the CH up and down hard buttons work. Has anyone had this problem.

Thank You
John

yes- the 8 & 9 on my tv wouldn't work! you'll need to learn the 0-9 with the original remote=- that's all there is to it

You number keys (5, 7, 8 and 9) will work providing you are not in Navigate mode. While in Navagate mode they serve as direction keys (Up, Down, Left, Right).

I want to change mine back to number keys. I have moved the direction keys up to the VCR transport keys and want to (or at least think I do) reassign the number keys back to being numbers even in Navigate mode.

I have had no problems with the numbers working my cable box. Perhaps it is the time delay between numbers (adjust speed settings) on your box's setup.

I have a reply from Harmony tech support, might be a problem with the remote concerning the hard button 0-9 keys. Harmony remapped the hard number keys from my cable box to the 1 hard button but this did not work. This might be a hardware problem. I will know when I get the next reply from Harmony.

I agree. I remapped mine back in the 'Watch ReplayTV' activity because the numbers are quite usefull when you have lots of channels. It would be nice if there were some way to do this globally, since several of my activities have a Navigate menu.

Very interesting Vader. If you remaped the dpad back to the transport, how do you do "tricks" with your replay like pause and fast forward? I went with the dpad on the numbers with my Tivo becase I don't seem to watch live TV anymore. I could see this with cable or basic satelite, but I was suprised you do this with replay.

I remapped the FF and Rewind to Skip Forward and Skip Back, right below the original buttons. Remember too that this is only in Navigate mode. In Numbers mode the transport keys are mapped to their normal functions.

Since then I've come up with an entirely new mode that uses the jog dial and side button to navigate. I can do almost anything now without switching modes or even looking at the remote. Now I actually prefer the Harmony over the original Replay remote!
