I'm trying to program equipment and a Samsung HL-R5667W. The equipment is in a cabinet with a IR sensor, repeater, and flashers. The equipment works fine but the Samsung does not. When the activity runs the TV button flashes "timer" and does not turn on, select input, etc. Should I increase the delay on the 880, or maybe run a flasher to the TV?

You might want to try learning the remote commands yourself. Yesterday I selected the Samsung SP46L6HX TV from Harmony's database, only to find that the MENU command took me into the engineers service menu on the TV, rather than the normal user menu. It looks like Harmony have serious problems with the IR commands for Samsung DLP TVs.

I'm amazed that Logitech include things like access to engineer service menus in their IR database - very dangerous.

Seems to be a lot safer to learn your own IR codes, rather than trust the Harmony ones.

I have a HL-P model and there were some firmware issues with the discrete ON command. It did not always work, so on my device setup, under more options / Power, for the power ON, I use 2 commands, PowerToggle followed by Power ON. The power toggle either works or wakes up the controller so the Power ON does the job. Otherwise, before learning the commands, do some searching on discrete codes and what might have changed in the "R" models vs the N or P. Also alert Harmony support if you find any thing.

I have a Samsung HLR-5667W and a Harmony 670. Everything was ok until I visited the Harmony site while home on vacation during the holidays. I hadnt been to thier site in a while so it forced a new software version on me. Things got so screwed up that I ended up deleting all devices and all activities. After setting up everything again I was very upset to learn that many of the commands for my TV were gone. One in particular was a single button command that would change the picture color mode(dynamic, standard, coo, etc.). That one I cant even learn from the original remote as is was never a single button control on there. There are also four new ones listed as blue, green, red and yellow. I have no idea what those are as they were never in the original remotes menus anywhere. I e-mailed Logitech about this several times but they keep ignoring it and saying that they provide the latest that Samsung sends them! I keep saying "But my set is 3 yrs old!! I need those codes!" I definitley thing something happened to thier databases.

Also, I noticed it takes much longer for the software to log in to the Harmony web site.

Paharmony, please don't cross post. Harmony does periodically clean up the database. The device datasets are more by brand rather than by specific models. So when you see a message saying there are updates available for this device, don't update that device. Else, you will get the latest "cleaned up" dataset version, and may find many missing commands including some handy ones. Same goes if you delete then re-add a device.

Note: One should always check the dataset of an "updated" device first (by momentarily adding it) before replacing the old one.

jlet, harmony does work on the database constantly. i agree with you when you say not to add "new" devices to your account, if everything works (why break something that's working?). however, harmony doesn't always remove commands from devices, sometimes they add new commands or improve other features; thus, it would be erroneous to state the new device profile has many useful commands missing (though it may be true in some cases).

xpat, I agree and edited my post to read: "... may find ...". Note: One should always check the dataset of an "updated" device first (by momentarily adding it) before replacing the old one.

Very good suggestion, it could save a lot of headache.

It wasn't Xpat who scolded you, it was jlet:) And you weren't being "scolded"...you were being EDUCATED. The OP came here looking for help with a specific issue he was having. Your post offered no help or solution, and had nothing in common with what the OP was asking about. Instead, it was a mini-rant about your negative experience with the Harmony database. People come to Remote Central usually because they are looking for help, and there are many people on this site who devote their free time to help those having issues. Someone with a similar problem to the OP would look through this thread and, hopefully, find a way to resolve his issue. Having to read through posts that are completely irrelevant to the issue diminishes the effectiveness of these forums.

Please keep in mind that no one is saying you shouldn't post your issue (after all, this is a public forum), just that you should post it in the proper context. Start a new thread next time and perhaps you will get responses from people with similar views.

There are only 2 types of people in the world....those I like, and those I don't. Remember, the only reason some people are alive is because it's illegal to shoot them.
