How are you able to change channels with one button press. If I want to change to say cartoon network on direcTV, do I have to put in the channel number all the time or can I program a graphic or macro to do this

there are three ways to do direct channel

1) guide - you have a list of shows playing at a given time, then you press the title of the show (Friends) and the Harmony sends the macro for the channel that is playing the show

2) channels - this gives you a list of channel numbers and station identifier (22-ABC), by clicking on the channel number the

3) digits - the way your original remote works

when you setup your device it knows how to send the keys
when you first log in it asks you where you live. It uses that info to determine the local stations. then it asks you for what you use (sat, cable, antenna) to give a more refine choice. finally you get a list of possible stations and you can click what you actually receive and what are your favorite stations (if you want)
