Hello All,

Intrigue Technologies is proud to announce the Beta release of the Palm version of the Harmony Remote software, featuring Smart State Technology. We have been busy working on a number of exciting new projects, and this is just the first of many announcements to come...

We will be running the Palm Beta program the same way we ran the original Beta program for the Harmony Remote. Beta program members will purchase the product at a significant discount from retail pricing.

The final version of the Palm Harmony Remote will sell for USD $19.95, and will include two months free television listings. An additional one years listings will cost $15.00.

Beta program members will be charged $10.00, and as an extra bonus will get a full years television listings (a value of $34.95). Previous Beta customers are welcome to join the Palm Harmony Remote Beta program at no cost. Listed below are the necessary steps to apply for the Beta program.

How the program works:
1)Apply to join the Beta program by going to [Link: HarmonyRemote.com]. Fill in all the required information. Note that if you were an original Beta customer, just write a note in the comments field.
2)If you are accepted, we will send you a copy of our Beta confidentiality agreement.
3)Sign the agreement and fax it back to us.
4)We will then accept payment, and send you instructions on how to download and run the software.

Supported Hardware:
At this stage, we intend to support all types of Palm, and all types of IR modules. Currently we only support the internal IrDa port, and will tackle other IR emitters according to their popularity. If, despite our efforts, at the end of the Beta period we do not support your particular hardware configuration, you will receive a full refund.

Future Developments:
Look out for future Beta release announcements of the Harmony Remote software and Smart State Technology on other platforms (including PocketPC and Mobile Phone) coming soon.

Thanks to everyone for their support.

Mini FAQ:
Question: Why do previous Beta customers get it for free?
Answer: We love our users, and want to support those who went out 'on a limb' for us in the early days. And just think, if you enrol for this Beta program, who knows what other great opportunities you will get in the future...

Question: Why are you charging for the Beta program?
Answer: Our Beta version is not intended to be a freeware or shareware application. For a small price our Beta customers get will get a fully functional Harmony Remote on their Palm, and get to see their feedback incorporated into the product.

Question: Why do we need to sign a confidentiality agreement?
Answer: As our previous Beta customers saw, the final version of software often bears little resemblance to the Beta release. We want to ensure that the rest of the world gets to see the Palm Harmony Remote once it includes your valuable feedback.

Hi All,

On another forum, 'Spiky' raised a good question regarding what versions of Palm we support. Unfortunately, because we are in Beta, it is difficult to say which models we are and/or will be compatible with ;-)

However, to give you an idea, a representative sample from some of the Beta members who have already signed up include:

'Standard' Palm Models:
m100
III
IIIx
IIIC
V
m515
Visor
Visor Deluxe

More Interesting Models:
Kyocera Smartphones
Handspring Treos

At this stage, we will probably be compatible with PalmOS 2 and up, and we are going to try for all hardware. We do not currently support any Arm devices at this time, but again, that is something we would like to support.

Regards,

Glen Harris,
