I think switching activities in the Harmony remote is awkward, and difficult for novice users. That a whole button is dedicated to the "zap" feature boggles my mind.

So, here's what I want to do. I want Zap to bring up the listing you get when you first start using the control in the Power off state. There is a claim that this is possible in this thread:

However, I can't exactly figure out the directions. They are terse, and I wonder if the Harmony software has changed between when it was posted and now. Anyway, I am able to successfully add a function to the ZAP button in a particular activity/mode, but when I look at the XML, and can't seem to find where it was added. Any suggestions? Thanks.

That original post came from me. After you added the function, did you go to "Modify the XML" for that button function you just added? It has been a while since I did this, but it was pretty straightforward. You do however add the "Change Button Mapping" to every activity where you want this to work (In my case about 20 activities), then you really want to relabel the "Change Button Function", since you have to edit the XML in each of the button functions, and you'll never keep them straight if they don't have descriptive names.

I added (and renamed) all of "Change Button Functions", and then did the XML edit on all of them, one after another. That way all I had to do was to highlight the old XML, and paste the new command in its place.

Also keep in mind that the opening parenthesis are really "<", but I could not post them like that.

Hope this helps. If not, let me know and I'll try to be more specific.

Ok, so I got it to work. Thanks for your help. The bit I missed was going to the XML for the "Utility" function, rather than for the activity I was modifying.
