Hi there. I have a question regarding the new 880 by Harmony.

When I select "Watch DVD" or "Watch VCR", the remote will turn on everything as planned but not switch to the proper input on the audio/video receiver (for instance: "video 2"). It's like the commands come out of the remote so rapid fire that the receiver is still powering on and therefore not ready for the next command. As such, I always have to hit "help" and then it resets.

Is therre a way to adjust the speed of commands? On my old remote I use to add extra macros as a buffer (that didn't do anything), but that obviously won't work here.

yes, it has been a long time but I think if you go into the device you should find power-on delay, just make it bigger, that way the remote will now to wait longer for the TV to turn on

Yes, as Anthony mentions, there are four delays that you can adjust to tweak the performance of the remote when controlling your devices, all accessible under the options for each device on your member homepage.

Power On delay specifies how long the device needs between powering on and being ready to accept commands.

Input delay specifies how long the device needs between changing input and being ready to accept commands.

Inter-device delay specifies how long the device needs between observing a command bound for another device and being ready to accept commands intended for it (not a problem with many devices, but some are picky and get confused by other devices' IR signals)

Inter-key delay specifies how long the device needs between successive key presses such as channel numbers, volume up/dn, channel up/dn etc (most PVRs, TVs, receivers, etc. can handle very short inter-key delays e.g. 0ms).

Aside from these delays, to fully tweak performance you may also adjust the number of repeats sent by the remote to particular devices (device responds too little or too much to some key presses) - this setting can be found by following the Troubleshoot link on the device and choosing the options that pertain to the device behavior you're observing.
