Hello,

I'm currently using the DishNetwork 811 HD Reciever that comes with a UHF Remote. I was curious if the 880 can be used to control the 811 since the 880 isn't RF.

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks

After checking out the 811 product brochure, it does have an IR sensor so I would say that the 880 should probably be able to control it. I can't be certain since I don't own the 811.

A quick search on the forum will yield an answer to your question. IR can be enabled on the 811 and the Harmony will be able to control it.

To be very specific, the harmony does not read the RF. If the harmony remote is able to learn from the OEM remote, then the OEM remote must be issuing IR commands in addition to RF. This can be verified by attempting to learn a command from the OEM remote without pointing it directly at the learning port of the harmony - if the harmony were really learning from the RF, the OEM remote could be pointed anywhere and the harmony would read the command. It will not.
