I am now the proud owner of a Harmony 880 after owning a 688 for about a year now. These are the best remotes out there, and the 688 was the first time I've actually been able to put ALL of my other remotes away for good, AND not have to answer questions from the wife every 5 seconds. Anyways...

I was wondering if anyone out these has any advice for a previous 688 owner like myself...you see there are two buttons that I really miss, and I can't believe Logitech got rid of them considering how useful they were. The "picture" and "sound" buttons are greatly missed, and I'm trying to find a good place to put things like my tv's aspect ratio....and my receiver's DSP/DTS/Dolby button etc...

That is the only thing I'm not liking about the 880.

Any suggestions are appreciated...

You would customize the activity you want those options in, then you would press "change behaviour of the buttons" and then at the bottom you would create a custom button label.

So when you would press the "my movies" or "my tv" activity those options would pop up on the lcd. Heck just call them picture and sound and add them as custom labels to whatever activities you use them in.

I guess I'm just hoping someone found a nicer solution rather than going in and manually adding them to every activity. (besides...I'd have to add another 8 in total...it makes the LCD screen very messy) It would be nice if I could setup a button that opens a new LCD page.....then I could mimick the SOUND/PICTURE buttons all over the place.

Unless this is a new feature of the 880, you can't do a menu within a custom button label. So you can name one button Picture but you won't get a menu like the old picture button - it will just send an IR command.

I haven't heard why they got rid of them or what the expected workaround is for previous owners. I think they should just give every activity a "shift" mode - two sets of button customizations that can be toggled. That would be more generic, although it would require more memory.

It really is too bad because other than the omission of the SOUND/PICTURE buttons, the 880 is a beautiful remote.

...and the LCD page thing was just a suggestion/idea...

Actually, I was answering Bartimus. Your suggestion is similar to mine.

Danny6869, you won't need to add them to all your activities since they will propagate to all activities that uses these devices (Display and Receiver). However, like you said, the LCD screens will be very messy. I hope that for the next 8xx generation, they will add back the Sound & Picture buttons. They only other suggestion I have, is to use the device mode but that entails scrolling to find the TV and Receiver device.

I guess I was just hoping someone had a magical solution for this out there. I'll just have to use device mode (giving it the bare minimum), and remove my excess of devices, so I can get to the TV, and receiver more easily.
