Is there a serial number difference on the old vs. new chargers? I bought mine used, and it has the charging problem.

No problems while I owned my 880; recently upgraded to the 1000 due to screen size. I found both remotes to be PERFECT!

Great tip: I removed the four rubber feet strips, the four screws. I then bent up the brass spring tabs to increase the contact pressure on the remote when it is in the cradle. I made sure all were equal "height" by looking across them from the side. Re-assemble... works better than new with solid recharging with each drop in the cradle!

Thanks!

I am constantly having issues with mine. I am going to try to take the base apart and see what's up.

Just an FYI...I just received my 880 for Christmas, my base and remote seem to have magnets that make the connection to the base for charging.

Works great so far. Sit it on the base and the magnet "sucks" the remote in and connects.

I bought mine a few months ago.. and I thought the same thing.. It wasn't fitting correctly.. spent a few "moments" picking up / replacing unit in base... let it sit for a bit, and it kinda just fell into place and became a non-issue.

My 880 has started charging first time and every time I've placed it into the cradle.
It has only been in use since this Christmas, however. I don't understand why so many have problems and yet others have none. Are all the cradles manufactured at the same place?

the original cradles did not fit the 880 remote exactly right and were replaced by calling Logitech support. The newer 880 remotes now have a magnet in the base to secure the remote to the charging cradle

I'm on my third Harmony 880 and it's doing the same thing my first one did -- won't sit in the dock properly so won't hold a charge. I'm getting ready to send it back and give up, but I'm not sure which remote I should get as a replacement, which is why I'm here.

I would call support they have just recently replaced my 880 remote and charging cradle with the new magnet base and all of my charging problems have disappeared

I find in eBay an external charger with 2 batteries for $39 or only one battery for $24.99
That is the best solution!

Strangely, I had many problems with my charging cradle when I had it on the carpet, but no problems whatsoever when I moved it to a wooden table. Maybe it needs a hard, flat or level surface.

my 2 cents...

had charging problem after about a week.

called logitech, got new changing base mailed to me.

had charging problem after about a week.

cleaned contacts with alcohol.

had charging problem after a few months of alcohol cleaning.

called logitech, they recommended I use a rubber band to physically press the remote to the charging base.

yea, it works, but how lame is this! i love the remote, i HATE the charging!

p.s. my remote stays charged for about 5-7 days (I use it heavily) - which seems good to me, but the battery indicator almost always shows 1 bar.

I've had my 880 for over a year. The battery holds a usable charge for around 10-12 days. I do occasionally have problems charging--I can't just drop the remote into the cradle, sometimes it's painstaking to get it lined up & charging.
