I am having the same problem. I have to carefully jiggle the remote in the cradle and then be careful not to touch it until It is fully charged.

Spoke with Logitech support today and the two folks I spoke with were well aware of the charging issues and said right away that they have a new base because of it. However, they also said that they are out of the new bases right now and it could be a few weeks before they would have new ones to send out.

I called today and they said I would get a new base in 2-3 weeks.

The tech suggested I put tape over the groves in the base to keep the remote raised a bit more until the new base came. This has worked very well for two days now.

Just got an email from Logitech saying that the base unit has been ordered -but it is back ordered with a 2 week delay. The tape tweak seems to be working well.

My 880 doesn't sit too well in the cradle - it
requires a steady hand to get it just right.
Usually if I put it in the cradle and then slide
it down, it beeps and charging begins (although
it sometimes takes a few times to get it just
right).

same 4 me.

My first 885 has a lcd problem, and the same cradle problem, i receive my replacement 885 and the lcd is ok but for the cradle it's the same.
I try it with the 2 cradle (i receive my replacement only few weeks ago) and i still have this "problem"

It's just some contactor, then i think it's normal to adjust its position when putting it on the cradle. When it beep and the screensaver start, i know that my remote is going to charge

THe charging problem is pretty common. Not sure if Logitech is workin on the issue. It looks like the pins on the charging base just don't sit high enough up to make good contact with the remote. Seems like they should have noticed tis during testing, but who knows...

The one beep or two comment made above is a good one. If I hear a single beep, I know that I've got it set right, and it's charging. If it beeps twice, I just lightly touch the remote, and it usually will beep and start charging.

I've had mine for about 3 days and ran it down to a couple of bars while configuring it. So far it beeps once everytime I set it on the cradle and has charged right up.

I had the all too common charging cradle problem as well. Worked fine for one day, then it was very finicky about how you put in the cradle. I usually had to jiggle it a bit before I got the confirmation beep. I reported it to tech support and got a new cradle within a week. This one has smaller contacts and has worked perfectly for the last month.

I've had 880 charging problems, too. I've been trying to find a replacement battery all day, but if the new one won't charge I'm still sunk.

I should have come to this forum earlier. I'll call Logitech about a new charging base and/or battery

EDIT: I have been in contact with support, they are very helpful, I have never uses
so much time in a support call, 1 hour 42 minutes! But they have tried to help me
with several questions. I have got the answers that I wrote down in quotes:

I have the 895 and it appears to have the same charge issues. Unbelievable that after the mistake with the 880, the 895 is having the same problems. I would like to ask you all 2 things:

1. When your remote has been charging all the night and you take it off the cradle, does it show the 3 bars full on the battery icon? What happen with mine is: I put it to charge and it beeps 1 time, I can see the slideshow kicking in, I see the battery indicator go full (3 solid bars, no animation at all) and after a while the screen goes black. I let it be there and after a considerable amount of time when I take it off the cradle I can hear 2 beeps, but the battery icon shows only 2 bars, no 3!

The problem appears to be the battery, it should show the 3 solid bars when the
remote is charged. They were going to send me a new battery, but at the end I will
get a hole new remote because I get a button that is depressed, it works but it
doesn't have the click of the others. They asked me to test letting the battery
discharge to 1 and see if the charge process can bring it back to 2, if this doesn't
work it means that the problem is the cradle.

2. Does the remote charges while it is connected via USB to the PC (not on the cradle)? Mine shows the 3 full bars (no animation) when connected to the PC, but when I pull the USB cable off it returns to the 2 bars.

The remote doesn't charge when connected to the USB. It shows the 3 solid battery
bars but it doesn't charge.

Thanks for the help. I will be calling support and asking for this.

SAME PROBLEM HERE.. SO frustrating to go and spend all this money on a remote to only get a taste of it, now it wont even turn on. Straight out of the packet it wouldn't charge at all. Ive tried to jiggle it around and nothing happens, no beeps or anything. It was flashing when i had it on the cradle and the slideshow was playing but the battery wasnt charging. Ive tried customer support but they are shocking. Anyone else have a different solution.

Received my replacement Base Station a couple of weeks ago. The difference is that when I put the remote on the cradle, the charge connection is immediate and no need to wiggle the remote to make contact.

The theory that the springs for the contacts on the replacement base station are better makes sense to me.

I had the same trouble with the 880 making poor contact with the cradle. The reason for this is the contacts in the cradle are too flimsy. It is very simple to fix this design flaw.

1. Remove the 4 screws under the cradle. (located under the 4 corner pads)

2. Separate the 2 halves of the cradle using a small flat screwdriver.

3. Locate the 3 contacts and bend them up.

4. Place a small rolled up piece of paper (about 1/8" -1/4" thick) underneith all three contacts. Use only enough paper help lift the contacts firmly up into the holes of the top half of the cradle.

5. Reassemble the cradle and plug it in.

That's all there is to it..........5-10 minutes and your back in business.
