I don't get any beeps anymore. The contacts are clean, they are not recessed, I have done a "cold" boot (removed the battery), all to no avail. I'll be calling support if it's still not working when I get home.

[edit] Well, the good news is that it decided to charge, and is now behaving normally when placed on the charger. It would be nice to know WTF is going on, but for now it's OK.

Same deal, mine doesn't even seem to know it's in the charger after only a week of operation. It will very occasionally emit a single beep, immediately followed by a double beep. It was full charge last night, it's down to one bar now after sitting in the cradle all night. Very, VERY bad design oversight for a luxory item this pricey. I'm about to open a help ticket now.

After charging fine for a while, then getting slowly worse, I finally called for a replacement after coming home to find the remote out of power and spending 10 minutes trying to get it to start charging.

Yup same here. Put it in the base it have to jiggle it around for a while. Unfoturnately there are several people living here and no one ever remembers to check the remote to make sure it is charging so it is always dead. Nice remote but a waste of money if I can't use he damn thing.

I'm on my third and last failing attempt with an 880. In each case, either one of the base or remote contacts has corroded within 3 months.

I switched to Harmony to save money, get activity-based use, and not have to deal with quirkiness. At this rate, I may as well go back to a Pronto and deal with all its annoyances. At least I can get it to charge.

This thing needs to be recalled and fit with a USB charger. Meanwhile, I'm going to go get my four remotes out of the cabinet one more time.

Mine was great. I'd put the remote onto the cradle and it made solid contact with the charger, one beep.I never really noticed how long the charge took but it was relatively quick.

My first remote had the infamous screen problem where the right side turned white. I exchanged it and now I have the contact problem with the charger. I inspected both charger bases and both remotes before shipping the old one back. This might be a false perception but I believe the contacts on the new remote were further recessed into the plastic than the old one, causing them not to mate perfectly with the base contacts.

Right now a little jiggle gets it going but it's not as solid as the last one. We'll see?

My 880 is pretty flaky, but I think I know how to set it in the charger just right. I'm not sure how well my wife sets it in the charger, however.

The first night I had the remote, I thought I placed it in correctly, but I woke up with only one bar? Now I realized I just need to make sure it only makes one beep and I see the screen saver kick in. Occasionally it does two beeps and I know it isn't sitting properly. Also, I have heard it beeping like crazy in the middle of the night. It appears as if one second it is making contact and another second it is not making contact. So then I hear one beep, two beeps, one beep, two beeps, etc. It is my belief that the remote is not heavy enough to press down on the contacts very well. This is a design flaw, but overall I am satisfied with the remote.

Yup. I'm on the charging issue bandwagon. Little jiggle gets it going. My brother had to return his. It didn't recharge at all. I'm on my 3rd Harmony remote all together. I had two 688's that I replaced (one had some buttons fail, the other the text started to rub off the buttons after only a few months). Finally I sold the last replacement unit they sent me and bought this 880. Now I'm going to have to return the 880 because it's randomly rebooting. I love these darn remotes in theory, but in practice the quality is just not there. Kudos to Logitech for replacing these things with no questions asked, but we shouldn't be having problems with them at all. I'm thinking of dropping the change on a Pronto.

I have a new 880 and it won't charge either, it does one beep and says testing, then it does the slideshow, then the light goes out and it quits charging. funny that Logitech has nothing about this on their website and even worse, if you call their support number, they don't even have an option for the harmony remotes?

Just to cover this thread, here is the latest response from Support:

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with your Harmony 880. After conducting a full investigation we have determined that, in a small percentage of cases, the Harmony 880 will charge intermittently or stop charging. Our Engineering Team have isolated the cause of this problem to the charging base station and have developed and tested a solution which is now being implemented into our production line.

These new base stations will be available within the next 3 weeks at which time we will courier one to you.

I had a charging problem for quite some time until I got a replacement cradle from tech support. The contacts are smaller, sharper and have more spring contact. No problems for weeks!

I too have the same problem!

I have to point it way from the TV -- slide it in just right on the base station - and then put my wooden cradle full of my old remotes on TOP of the Harmony to push it down enough to charge.

But...it does charge pretty quick ;)

Hmm..I just got mine and I THINK I might have the same issues. I have had it on the charger for a couple of hours now BUT the screen where the battery bars are keeps flickering but the rest of the screen is fine. COuld it be the same problem or another one...I havent even set the damn thing up yet!!Its been on the charger for about 3 hours and it still not fully charged. The bars are cycling though...
