I am going nuts with this one, please help. I recently bought 688 and have it set up to control Pio plazma, with Dish HD/DVR 921 satellite receiver and Denon receiver. The equipment is in a wooden credenza and I am using Xantech IR repeater. On a daily basis, I experience a problem that one or more components is either does not get turned off or turned on. So every time I have to go through the Help menu steps to turn it off properly (which also includes me walking to the credenza and opening the doors to see which component didn't properly turn on/off). Ususally, but not always, the component that doesn't get turned off is the Satellite receiver. Drives my wife crazy, and she makes sure to drive me crazy too..thiswas supposed to be easy!..Does anyone else experience similar problem? Once the components are properly turned on, the remote seems to be working fine controlling the equipment. Whats the cure? Is it Xantech, Harmony, or component problem? And, yes, my batteries in the remote are fine.

If you added the Xantech IR repeater as a device, start by increasing the Inter-Device Delay settings for it. If that doesn't work or the Xantech is not a device increase the Inter-Device Delay settings for each Device or at least the devices that are experiencing problems. Hope this helps.

Try increasing the inter-device delay for the component(s) that are having problems. Sometimes when a device sees a command for another device it is temporarily "blinded" and misses the command for it to power on or off. Increasing the delay gives it time to recover and respond correctly. Since it fails sporadically try increasing it by 100 or 200 ms at a time. If that doesn't fix it then it could be a problem with the IR repeater. Is the satellite receiver the furthest away from the emitter? Or do you have individual emitters vs. flood emitters?

Another idea: leave the stellite tuner on, as I do for Harmony customers. We have 3 DirecTiVo's at home, and a single-tuner receiver, and never turn any of them off. I also suggest leaving cable boxes on when I program Harmony's for customers.

Usually, cable boxes only switch the TV power receptacle on the rear panel on and off with the numerical display; the tuner stays on.

Some cable boxes with PVR (like the SA 8300HD) require that you power them off. Unlike DTivo, the 8300 can only download new software and guides when in a "standby" mode.

Is your Xantec IR repeater plasma-friendly?

OK, Thanks, guys, this makes sense. How do I actually increase the delay settings? The equipment all equidistant from the remote, and I believe they are individual emmitters, i.e there is a separate 'eye' on each device.

yes, it is plazma friendly IR, and DISH suggests that receiver is powered off at night. I would prefer that it gets turned off, but obviously if can't soplve the problem in any other way, I will try leaving it on

Select "More Options" for the device in the Devices list.

Select "Adjust the delays (speed settings)".

You can then set the inter-device delay in 100ms increments.

Steve.

I'm having the same exact problems. Are you still able to adjust this delay, or do you HAVE to contact Harmony support?

Thanks!

If you are using the 7.7 software, then yes, if you are using the MyHarmony.com setup, then the answer is no, and you have to have Harmony support make the changes  It also depends on the model remote that you have, the Inter-device delay settins for the 600, 650 or 700 is done on the remote and not in the software.  You have to hold the Help button for 5 seconds to get to the Advanded settings options.  Here you can adjust the {Power On delay and tjhe Inter-device delay.

My PVR won't turn off if it isn't "live". If it has been paused or reversed and is running a bit behind, but I forget to make it catch up to "live", and I try to turn it off, it shows a box asking me to switch to "live", and if I select "yes" then it will do so and turn off. A green LED on the PVRfront tells me it's still on. The trouble is I won't see the box because the TV shuts off first. I can then manually go through those motions on the PVRfront controls because I can remember the navigation without seeing it. It's a Bell ExpressVu PVR. But I doubt that's your problem.
