I picked up my 880 remote today at Best Buy for $192.00. Thanks to all for your help in the thread about prices, I brought in a print out of it and had to push just a little. They charged me the ComputerHQ.com price with shipping. This my first Harmony product, it is replacing a Theater Master SL-9000.
Here are my two issues:
-When I programmed the unit on the web it downloads the firmware to the unit and then re-boots BUT in the screen on the computer showing the steps it comes up with an error message that it can not connect to the remote and it starts to reload the firmware again, it will do this over and over if I don't stop it. My way of stopping it has been to disconnect the unit when it is re-booting. Every seems to be programmed properly when I do this.
-The second issue is that if I try out the unit and then reconnect it to the USB cord to do more updates everything seems normal until I try to start the update I get a Windows error message that says that there is no memory. I can fix this problem by re-booting the computer and then loading the update which luckily I have saved to a file each time on the hard drive. Funny part is that I have to go through the first problem over again LOL.

Thanks in advance for any advice,
Scott

What is the version of the Harmony Remote Client you are running? The most current version is 4.4.0.

One issue that I was having was that the download to update the remote wasn't actually running the update program. This was on XP with SP2 and the 4.4 version. I had clicked on the top of the page and actually got the download working, selected "Open" and then nothing. I had to save the download to disk and then select "Open" after it had finished downloading.

In fact, at first (after the downloads wouldn't run) even that would only pop-up the program window, but it wouldn't do anything - just a blank white area where the status information is displayed. That just needed a reboot of the computer. After that it has been working fine as long as I always save the download to disk prior to opening it.

Hi DW99,

You might try disabling your popup blocker.

That's an idea, and probably the root cause (SP2's blocker). However, it is less of a hassle to just save it and run it right after saving - the main reason why I posted so that someone else didn't have to spend the time trying to figure out why it was behaving strange. Their website has the info. at the top of the page that is "supposed" to get you past it, but it wasn't quite enough in my case and support didn't know why - just that it has been reported a few times.
Thanks.

I'm having the same problems, except, even if I download the file, the client won't start. The funny thing is, the connectivity test works fine.

ok, now I'm getting the following message when I try to perform an update:

"The binary file was the wrong size.
Please try saving the file to your desktop and double-clicking on it.
Press Exit."

What kind of connection are you on for the Internet?
What plugins/toolbars etc. do you have running when you launch your browser? Are you using a download client i.e.- GetRight or other software when you did the download? If the binary file is the wrong size it could be that the file is not dowlloading properly.
