JThree,

Your icons looks fantastic. However, despite looking excellent on the computer screen, they look "eh" on the 880's screen (and yes, I've uploaded the icons directly from your downloaded zip file). Can you (or others) please verify that my remote is not defective? Is it simply that the 880's screen is so-so and/or that it does some additional horrible JPEG compression in the upload process?

Or is everyone else looking at your icons on the 880's screen in the same excellent quality that they appear on the PC screen?

Thanks,
Brent

I'm adding a section to my website for icons and
backgrounds created by others. If anyone has any
they've created for the Harmony 880 and want to
share, email me at [email protected]

I think it's just the resolution of the 880 screen. For confirmation look at some of the letters written on the screen. For example, just looking now at my remote the letter "W" in "Watch Cable" and the letter "Z" in "PIP Size" are extremely jagged.

Thanks for the confirmation -- I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't alone in not being able to fully appreciate your hard work! :-)

I'm surprised more people haven't commented on the screen resolution after they bought it. In advertising for the remote Logitech shows what is obviously a mocked up version of the screen with clean sharp looking anti-aliased text and high resolution icons.

I agree -- I posted a general comment in the AVS thread when I bought my 880 a week ago, asking if I was the only one who thought the graphics quality was passable at best. Absolutely no one responded, leading me to wonder if I had gotten a weirdly defective remote. I realize the 880 has many other good qualities, but I too am surprised that people haven't mentioned this.

For example, your replacement backgrounds (as well as other people's) look just great on my computer (nice smooth gradients, etc.), but they often pretty much look like JPEG sh*t on my 880 screen. I thought maybe I was crazy.

Just added the files created by other 880 users to the website: 25 backgrounds and 7 icons submitted so far!

My thanks to "JThree" and "Tom" for the excellent background graphics! I have no complaints about the resolution... I simply switch off the "activities" graphics and use text only against the custom backgrounds. The canned graphics are cute, but not very functional when screen space for each activity is at a premium.

I created 2 backgrounds for those who use mce2k5. The first is for those using small icons. The green buttons are not transparent simply becuase they did not look that great on the small size.

This next background is for those who use the large icons. I was able to adjust the opacity for this once since the green buttons are larger. Its pretty cool, you can actually see the clouds through the green.

Hope you all enjoy.

Do we have any UK / Sky graphics yet? If not I'm happy to work on this. I will need them myself when/if my 885 ever arrives!!

A question. Does the 880 / 885 support only a single page of favorite channels? my old Pronto CCF has a) many more channels per page, and b) several pages (one per family member). I'd like to replicate this if I can but havn't manged to get my hands on the 885 to try it yet.

UK/Sky graphics? The 880 supports two pages of favorite channels for a total of 16 icons. Not huge but I didn't nee more than that and had to force myself to add 3-4 extra to complete the total alloted.

If someone is willing to help out I'm willing to do them. Like the Canadian channels, I'll need someone to post the most popular channels since I don't have any idea what most people would want by just looking at the channel listings.

Take it for what it's worth.. but I have a total of 32 Favorite Channels... I have a Stand Alone Cable Box, and an OTA Hd receiver...

Obviously I have 16 favorite channels for the Activity 'Watch TV,' however I also created an activity 'Watch OTA HDTV' which gave me the possibility of using 16 more favorite channels...

I suppose if you were to create an activity for each person in your family to watch TV, you could theoritically have Watch TV [Mom, Dad, etc...] with 16 Favorite Channels each.

I, of course have only tried it with 2 similiar activities, so I don't know if it'll do more than that.. but might be worth it to try it out...
