My zip code has many different channel lineups for our cable provider (Comcast). Unfortunately, on Harmony's menu for choosing n the menu to choose provider, there are 8 choices all labeled "Comcast" and 8 choices labeled "Comcast - Digital" and a few more such as "Comcast - Rebuild". It was hard to figure out which one was really my lineup.

I noticed, though, that if I went to myway.com and looked at THEIR listings of TV lineups, they had the same number of options, but they gave more information -- in particular, the community that the service is actually for. So maybe Harmony is just shortening the name of the cable provider too much?

On my cable lineup, there are a number of digital music channels, too. I made a separate activity for "Cable Stereo" (out of a "Satellite Stereo" category, even though no satellites are involved). Unfortunately, the names of the channels through the online program all start with "Music Choice", e.g., "Music Choice: Light Jazz" or "Music Choice: Salsa". That's fine on the web site, but on the remote itself, they all show up as "Music Choice: A" (with only half of the first letter of the actual channel showing). Is there room on the remote to wrap-around this information onto a second line, or, even better, special case the "Music Choice:" prefix and either elide it or shorten it?

You can edit the channel names in the channel guide.

I had to do this for my grandmother as "KXAN" makes no sense to her but "NBC" does.

Thanks! I hadn't realized that the link with the channel name allowed me to rename it.

It was pretty cumbersome to do it, but I renamed 20 channels to get rid of the initial "Music Choice: " letters. I wish the interface for editing the channel lineup wasn't so clunky and slow (every time it has to redisplay the list of 400 channels, it takes 30-40 seconds.)

Back in the good 'ole days, you could edit this in the XML. Took seconds to change instead of several minutes...

If you only need a few channels, and don't need the program listing, then in your "My Profile", change your Country to UK so that you won't have a provider. The list will be empty so simply add your desired channels. That way, the next time you edit your short list, it won't have to redisplay "400" useless channels.
