Hey all,

Just got a Roomba Discovery for Christmas, and low and behold, it comes with a remote! Well, as you all know, there's no room for two remotes in one house :-) so I configured my Harmony H688 to work my Roomba.

The only problem I have is that the Harmony Website lists several Roomba's as possibilities and I've been through all of them. I had to add a few custom buttons (strangely enough, the "clean" command wasn't listed in the Harmony database, but in order to get the Roomba to return to base, you have to press the [clean] and [spot] buttons at the same time.

I tried to have the Harmony "learn" this by pressing both the Clean and Spot buttons on the Roomba remote, but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone got this to work yet?

As far as I know, you won't be able to learn those commands to the Harmony, because even the Roomba remote won't return him to the base. The "spot" and "clean" buttons they are referring to are the ones on the Roomba himself, not the ones on the remote. Try sending him home from the Roomba remote, by pressing "spot" and "clean" together, we did and it doesn't do a thing. Pressing the buttons on the Romba does it though. Apparently the remote can't be used within 8 feet (or something like that) of the base because the IR signals from the remote interfere with the IR signals of the base.

In theory, you shouldn't need to send him back to the base, because he should do when he detects he's done cleaning a room, or when his battery is low. Check out the Roomba FAQ (especially the Home Base section) at [Link: irobot.com]
