I've spent the past 3 hours trying to get the Harmony to read the IR codes from my TV (Toshiba 43H70) It's a no go and I've tried every trouble shooting technique I know, including replacing all batteries. So, what was supposed to be simple, isn't. The Quick Start Guide says there's a USB troubleshooting section on their web site, but I can't find it. Maybe I have a USB conflict. Not sure since the computer recognizes the Harmony connection. Looks like the award may be premature.

Hi Marc,

Can you tell me more about what exactly fails and any error messages you get? Have you installed Internet explorer 6?

I had a problem early on with a dll from IE6 that wasn't properly registered. Might possibly be your problem. Give me some details and I will see if I can help you out.

I spent 30 mintes frustrated at mine before I realized that I needed to point the old remote twards the LCD end of the harmony.

Other than that make sure you have the latest firmware before attempting to digitize codes. I have a 42h81 and have had only intermittint problem digitizing, all were resolved by resending the IR.

Eric,
Like you, I'm used to pointing IR to IR. Thanks for clarifying. I updated firmware and now get a message that the IR codes from my Samsung VCR were read but not understood. I just can win with this device!

I'm going on 6 hours and still can't turn on my TV. Plus, I'm getting no customer support from Easy Zapper. Thanks for making your valuable tips available.

IF you are still having trouble getting through to them, call them. I have not had a service or billing issue go more than 3 hours before a response by e-mail. Mabye there is something screwy with yours?

PS: Your user ID looks like a SUNY albany ID.

RETRACTION
Harmony Customer Service didn't respond yesterday because it was a holiday in Canada (Boxing Day.) I'm embarassed that I acted so quickly to post a complaint, especially since there was a helpful message waiting for me, from them, at 9AM this a.m. I'm still working on the set-up. Nope, my user ID is not Suny Albany. Wish it were, I'd enjoy going back to college.
Thanks for the note,
Marc
