I've got a question for all you A/V freaks out there. I am installing an integrated home theater in my bathroom/jacuzzi room. The only problem is that I need a waterproof/resistant universal remote control unit to run everything. I know they make them for pools but you have to buy the pool, theater system and remote all together. You cannot buy these parts seperately. I even went to the manufacturers site but they didn't sell the remotes or the A/V units seperately either. I would appreciate any help as soon as possible.

If you really have a favorite remote and you want to waterproof it I have a couple of suggestions:
1) Use a shrink wrap/vacuum pack the whole remote but make sure that you do not shrink it too tight or the buttons will be pushed.
2) If possible you can take the pc board out the houseing an dip it in melted wax. A few coats should do it. Wax must be non-metallic. Then you have to make sure that the contacts that the buttons complete are cleaned off. The power supply must be treated seperately - if possible install a shrink wrapped power supply with the contacts encased. Shrink tubing works - available at radio shack. This will allow for the remote to be submerged and not cause it to short circuit. Many companies use this technique when building devices that are for use in hazardous locations - UL Class I&II Div 1&2.
