Well, a few months ago I was doing programing on a big system and we had a shelf that was about 50" high above a concrete basement floor. I had my laptop on the shelf and it was connected to power and also to the system and what not.

Here's the chilling part.

The rack in this system is on wheels and we went to rotate it and the laptop with the screen fully open flew off the shelf, turned on its side, landed on the top right corner of the screen, and crunched shut.

There was a lot of wide eyed gasping as if it were a baby that just did it.

Anyhow. My HP pavilion ze5400 only got a little scratch. She's doing fine and will turn one in August.

That's worth sharing. That was major. Put it back on the shelf and continued with the day.

Never again! Let this be a warning.

What a heart-stopping moment that was, I'd say!

Here's one that scared me......

I was moving a couple of years ago and I just bought a pair of Mirage OM-6 floor standing speakers. Since I didn't need a moving truck I just used my car, full size if you are wondering.

Well I put both speakers in the back seat, and the BPS-400 sub in the front seat. That in itself weights about 110lbs or so. But anyways, as I was taking out the speakers from the back seat I dropped one of them on the top part of the speaker. Where it's only 4 inches thick, and 8 inches wide and 20 inches tall from the base part of the speaker. The base part of the speaker is abot 8 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and about 20 inches tall to meet the top part. Well it turns out that it did nothing to it. They still sound good even at high volume so I know that there is no hidden damage. Such as separation. It's all clothed so I couldn't see at separation unless is was actually apart. Here is a picture of the current OM-5 speaker. The only difference between mine and this is, is that mine the half way point is where the top and buttom part meet. Unlike this one where it meets a few inches above the half way point. Oh and by the way, one of these speakers weights in 60lbs. I was smart enough to take the very top part of the speaker off of it. It's just a wood piece that is about a 1/2 inche thick, but high gloss. Which it would of sratched if it fell off when I dropped it.

Between the ages of 13 to 16 (a good few years ago now) I had a part time job (after school) at a local jewellers shop. Nothing fancy, just a general dogsbody to run errands, sort out the post, pack things up. It did though also include my having to vacuum the carpet once the shop closed (at 5:30).

So there I was, one day, whizzing around with the ancient Hoover when I inadvertently knocked a display table, on top which was a rather large and heavy silver vase. Cue slow motion and dramatic background music. I can still see it now, the vase wobbling, teetering and then tipping towards a full length plate glass display cabinet; and me leaping full length and catching it with about an inch to spare. Didn't vacuum quite so close to the table after that.
