Anyone know of any good spyware removal software that isn't spyware itself?

TIA,

JJP

Yeah, the desk that came with your computer that says "reformat"

That's what I use. At least I have two hds where I can store my files.

To date, I haven't had any "spyware" embed it self on my d drive.

I use Ad-aware 6 from time to time (www.lavasoftusa.com).

As a side note, for viruses and spam, I find my best defense is TMDA (www.tmda.net) + SpamAssassin (www.spamassassin.org) + f-prot (www.f-prot.com) + anomy sanitizer (http://mailtools.anomy.net) to filter my email. And every so often, I run Panda ActiveScan, a free online virus scanner ([Link: pandasoftware.com]).

Along with Adaware (available free) is SpyBot Search and Destroy (also free for personal use). I found that I needed to use the combination of both. Neither these plus a firewall and an antivirus program stopped "Cool Web" from hijacking my browser however. I had to find and run CoolWeb shredder to do that. You need to stay current with any product you use and be vigilant to any change that happens. The idea of two drives and reformating seems extreme but probably works. Making a clone of the operating system drive in a known safe version then restoring to that would be less dramatic and restore applications without having to reinstall.

No-one's e-mailed me; ergo I must have no friends. Billy No-mates here . . . sigh!
