Can any one please help me find the IR codes and protocol used for a zenith VCR model# VCM321. I tried to call zenith, but they would not help me. I am doing a project for school and I need to communicate with the VCR by generating and transmitting the proper codes for play, stop, rec., etc to the VCR. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you.

You can buy that VCR for less than $50.00. Why not replace it with a better (I.E. Stereo) VCR? Or you can pick up a comparable VCR for less.

Funny when the phone call costs more than the VCR!

Hope this helps your school project

I ran both CCF files with Zenith VCRs in the files section see here
[Link: remotecentral.com]

Through John fines excellent ccf2efc.exe see here
[Link: remotecentral.com]
and came up with these;

(JVC2):186:110 EFC=070 {offset 5 in repeated part using 17 of 22 pairs}
TimeBase=497 Zero=1.0,-1.0 One=1.0,-9.3 Suffix = 1.0,-305.2 Total = 421
(JVC2):182:109 EFC=072 {offset 5 in repeated part using 17 of 22 pairs}
TimeBase=497 Zero=1.0,-1.0 One=1.0,-9.3 Suffix = 1.0,-209.9 Total = 326

I think this means they use jvc2 protocols. Your model may or may not use these codes.

On one of the CCF’s it had this readme file this guy obviously worked hard to get these codes and knows more than a fair bit about it! He has his email address at the bottom it might be worth a try .
This is what he said;
This is verified & derived using my very old Zenith VCR model VRD700HF
I built the IR codes using an Excel spreadsheet using logic I found in this post on Remote Central's Pronto forum:

The VCR IR codes seemed to have dual functions, depending on if you were in
programming mode or not. So I'll list them as Primary function, & Programming function.

Any questions? Want the spreadsheet I used to crank these bad boys out with?

Now i dont know if this is what you wanted or might be a bit more than you thought but hope it helps
