what are you taught about evolution in high school?
I was searching for some information to help my daughter with her homework and came across many web sites which had a very different viewpoint on the subject compared to what we are taught in the UK.

Thank you for asking, wolf359.

It was meant for me to be prefect. I do not believe that I was evolved. Prehaps I was selected. Therefore, I believe in selectivity. Actually though, the theory of prefectionality would be my choice.

'Hope this helps....

yeah should have read it first! ohhh matron
Funny when us brits were asked a question about a subject we replied with our free opinions but i guessed if i mentioned evolution that the opinons wouldnt run as freely in case of backlash of opinions for or against and i seem to be proved right at the moment.

A thorny topic perhaps. My understanding is that in certain areas Darwinian theory is more than just frowned upon.

Oh, and as an aside . . .

What a pity Starfish isn't with us at the moment. I think he may have liked this.

I know in some parts evolution theory is more than frowned upon but i dont know where in the U.S.A its not taught or frowned upon and wondered if there is still a north south devide on many things (just as in the UK.)
Incedently djy were you taught Darwinian evolution was an absolute fact or one of many theorys at school?

wolf,
I was not being educated in USA or UK but in Germany. And it is also quite awhile when that happened (15 yrs ago), but if I recall the lessons correctly, Darwinism was regarded to be a fact. At least there were no other evolution theories that we had to learn.
Dunno if this is what you wanted to know, though.

Thanks Andre yeah thats exactly what i wanted to know not your opinion on the theory just what you were taught.Thanks.
I was taught at school it was absolute fact.No other rival theories or opinions were taught to us(do not infer that i am accepting OR disputing what i was taught i am just stating what i was taught)
