I am thinking about getting a wireless cable/dsl for my desktop pc. As I just do not want to route alot of wires in my place that I am about to share with a friend. (My HT system has enough on it's own).

She has a Dell with xp. I have a Compaq with win 98.

Believe it or not, but with my two hds I think that my pc is much faster than her 2.4ghz processor. Where mine is only Cyrix M II-366 at 250 MHz.

Of course my usb ports are not up todate as her's is. However, I do have an ethernet card. It's a Kingston, came with the pc. I dont have the software installed just yet since I dont have cable/dsl just yet.

My question is really.........

I saw this two line cordless phone system with a modem built into the base. Yeah I know that I can't use this for either cable or dsl. But it used bluetooth for communication between the base and pc. Between base and handset, not sure though.

But the items that I've seen that is made for cable/dsl speeds uses 2.4Ghz communication. I already have a 2.4ghz phone and I hate the noise on it that I hear. Could be because it's a vtech though, when they first came out with them.

Would it be best for me to buy a wireless 2.4ghz "modem" for cable/dsl. Or try to find a bluetooth "modem"?

Thanks

Rob

I know this is the wrong forum for serious answers, but what the heck.

I already have a 2.4ghz phone

2.4GHz wireless networks can be VERY susceptible to interference from other 2.4GHz devices.

Proceed with caution! If possible, borrowing the WiFi equipment first, or at least make darn sure you can return it. Or consider getting rid of the phone (especially if you don't like it anyway).
