I have a fairly straightforward setup (Sony DVD, Sony DVR, Mitsubishi VCR, Scientific Atlanta HDTV cable box, and Panasonic HDTV), but I also have a separate remote for each. My wife has all but refused to use four separate remotes, so a combining remote is in order, but the TV is the problem. Changing inputs (component 1 --> component 2 --> VCR 1, and so on) on the TV is accomplished by pushing a single button on the TV remote. Since the number of times to push that button depends on what device I last used, I need a remote that can send a discrete "device signal" to the TV to switch to component 1, vcr 2, or whatever. The requirements beyond that are pretty tame (change channels, change volume, mute, pause, FF, REW, etc.). Anyone want to suggest a remote that would do the job? TIA

Here's a problem. Are you sure that your tv will take the discrete ir codes???????

Not all tvs have them. Even though it's a Panny tv, it doesn't mean that it will have the ir codes.

So for right now, find out what your tv's model number is and put it on here. If someone else has the same tv, they might be able to tell you if discrete codes will work or not.

Good point. It's either a CT-32HX41 or a CT-32HX41U (not sure what the U means) and the manual covers both.

For a small investment, <$20, get a one-for-all or certain radio shack remotes, using setup code TV0250, try these advanced codes. To see if your TV responds to discrete codes.

Oh Goody! Can someone direct our new friend to the lounge, (with a stopover at the little rednecks room)?
