Off topic, but we're all geeks here, right?

Has anyone used this camera or similar types, and what do you think? I'm using a new one right now, and after weeks of researching, I'm very pleased that it appears to be the closest thing to an SLR you can get. ... Mike

Mike, I cannot help you with the other questions. But since this forum is supposed to cover anything not covered anywhere else I think it is very much on topic (unlike the ones asking remote or home theater questions on this forum) :-)

Yep I took the plunge a couple of months ago on the Kodak Dc3400. I have been pleased with it. It's not as good as the canon G1. I got tired of waiting for the EOS digital models to come down into my reach. I have many lenses that don't get much use now. It took me awile to adjust to digital photography. The old analog mind wanders a bit. Enjoy your new toy.---Geek out.

Yeah, David, I suddenly realized that there are some basic things missing from affordable (read: under$2000) digital cameras, such as two D-rings for a neck strap! And the capability to add a polarizing or daytime filter (among others). The G1 options include a wide, tele, and macro lens (with converter) but nothing else. This is a real shame. I guess, though, by the time the designers realize that these things are essentials, the digicams will have been improved to the point where I'll want a new one anyway. ... Mike
