I'm a newbie to all of this and am astounded by the expertise on this site. I have been trying to select a universal remote and can't seem to find critical information. Based upon the reviews I have seen so far I am leaning toward a Home Theater MX-500 but my problem is finding out which remotes work with which products.

I have:
1. Sony CPD-CX350 300 CD player (LOVE IT!)
2. Sony TV (don't know code, it's big,2 yrs. old with PIP that doesn't work because I am on Dish Network)
3. Panasonic VCR (don't know code, 2 yrs old)
4. Dennon DRA 375RD Receiver
5. Dish TV Remote
6. Looking to buy a portable DVD player (possibly Sony

What I can't find is a way to figure out if I will be able to program my CD player (it does lots of wonderful things) as well as my Dish, etc. I checked the Files folder and couldn't find anything.

I am more technologically advanced than the average bear but not into it just for the technology. Just want to get rid of five remotes (have to control volume from one remote & cd from another)and be able to program it and use it without getting another Masters Degree.

Thanks for helping point me in the right direction!

There is lots of expertise on this site, but mainly a bunch of crazyness on this particular forum.

I have the MX-500 (along with many others) -and it is a great remote. It will work well with the Sony Mega CD changer (I have one), and there are a lot of neat things going on with that remote. Check the Home Theater Master forum. Good luck.

Agreed. Your best bet would be to quietly gather your things, find the nearest fire exit and . . . . . RUN, FORREST.........RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!!!!!

In this Forum, it all has to do with the replies, anyways. Who cares what the topic is?

I think it means that the expert (at what, I don't know) has to have a 300 CD player with him.

am astounded by the expertise on this site

I guess he is easily impressed. Don't think he read any of the posts on this forum.
