Hello all,
First I'd like to apologize if my following post has been asked before, I searched for awhile but couldnt find it, so hwg... secondly, my apologies if this is not the "proper" forum for posting this, but I am at a loss and growing frustrated and desperate...

I have a Dell Laptop with built-in IR. I am running WinXP. I'm looking for remote-control software to allow my laptop to control my TV, DVD, Stereo, etc through its IR port. I have been able to find this software for PalmTops, but nothing for Win32 that I cpuld get working. The closest I have come is http://winlirc.sourceforge.net but couldn't get it to work.

Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

K, came a little closer with this prog, Technomote [Link: tony.maro.net] , but it dosen't work either - i suspect xp is to blame.

Any thoughts from any of you oh-so knowledgable folks out there?

the problem is that your laptop Ir port is actually an IrDA port......they are not the same.

the first program (winlirc) has a link to build an Ir receiver to connect to a serial port.

the second (technomote) has a link to build one to connect to a parallel port.

neither will work without the associated Ir receiver/transmitter.
