Anyone have any comments on the advantages of one over the other? (other than price) The $1,000 version of REplayTV is just $300 more than the Series2 TiVo with a lifetime subscription.
REplays website says something about naming your own categories, can the new TiVo do this as well?
Anyone who has input on this or anything comparing the two please post and thanks in advance.

This is a serious request deserving of a considered and serious answer. Unfortunately, I can't think of one at the moment.
Never mind. At least you haven't got a big fat 0 by your thread anymore.

To paraphrase Captain Terrell in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn" (just before he uses a phaser as a Q-tip) . . . "It....is....difficult....Admiral........."
But, like you djy . . . I have no 'serious' input to offer.
and "It....is....difficult....", so very difficult to restrain myself............
MIKE (They both have 'TV' in their names, but REplay has more letters . . . maybe that justifies the extra cost?).

Some paperwork I have from Replay: Advantages over Tivo: Streaming between units Send/receive other units over the net Commercial Advance Copy digital photos Organize using Show Organizer Slide Show of digital photos Screen Saver 320 hours of storage Broadband support VGa output Backlit remote Front panel buttons in case you lose remote Digital audio output setup time is 1/5 of Tivo Extra RCA input USB input up to 40 hours of live TV buffer No service fee Program from the web using www.myreplaytv.comMy personal experience with Tivo shows that they're similar, but ReplayTV is a higher end product at a higher price. Note that Replay is soon coming out with pricing $250 less but with Tivo-style subscription fee. Randy www.BlueDo.com

The best place to do your research is the ReplayTV and TiVo forums over at AVS, here are the links: ReplayTV ForumTiVo ForumBut, before you ask the "TiVo vs. Replay" question, do a search as it has been asked MANY times! :) Rob. http://www.hifi-remote.com

Anthony, you can't jump to a panel, when there is no button on it (only frames for example). ;-)
