DIY?! This is the programme you want (basically because they're a bunch of headbangers). I mean, they've even got Bob The Builder.

your title sounds worst , I have only seen a few episodes of TS (My sister loves the show, so if I am around and it is playing, we have to see it) but many times what they come up with is scary. I looked at the pics on your version and the designers looked like they know what they are doing.

Wotcha mean. It's the original! And I bet they ain't got a Handy Andy.

If, on the other hand, you want some really serious work done this is the programme you want.

Or if you're feeling really brave. (Try this one on your sister).

"the changing room" is the term used for those little rooms in stores where you go to try clothes, so it sounds like some kind of hidden cam ....

Never saw the BBC version, but the US version is built on controversy (from what I read in one episode they stapled moss on the walls, in an other they glued hay, and in a couple of episodes I saw where the home owner told the designer not to destroy or remove something, or the friends said the home owner would not like the color, the designers just say they have full control.

Personally I like shows like this where you can learn something

Like this you mean?

It's "Changing Rooms" and basically that's what they do. The designers don't have complete carte-blanche but they do try to bully their ideas through which, on more than one occassion, has led to a few adverse reactions. (Makes me wonder if these people ever talk to each other before they go on the show).

As for tips, I've learnt a few things but as for a proper "teach you how" show, we haven't truly had one since Barry Bucknell shed his mortal coil, a number of years ago.

Now this is impressive

The designers don't have complete carte-blanche

I think that is the difference between the UK and US version. In one of the episodes I saw (I think I saw 4 or 5), the designer basically told the friend that her choice was made (and who cares if the home owner would like it or not)

Painting, plastering, sealing, gluing - this is what you want. Brilliant stuff.

Not entirely sure if PVA is one of those that releases noxious fumes. However, if the research is to be believed glue isn't the prime culprit (over here at least).
