Was riding the bus the other day... a car in front of us struck a pedestrian (older asian lady) she flew up in the air and cartwheeled over the car. The car didn't even slow down, instead it sped up... I got it's license number and description of the car.

The friggin bus driver didn't even slow down or say a word! I called the cops, and was the only person who reported it!!!

A few minutes later I got a "thank you sir, we've apprehended them" call back!

There were several commuters and pedestrians and in looking back at the scene, no one went to her aid.

WTF?

That's pretty bad. I can understand many not wanting to get involved in active situations, but coming to the aid of someone after the fact - or at least calling for help - seems the bare minimum of human decency.

I think, as a society, we have all become too self involved and too busy at wasting our hours away. My guess it was a "this does not affect me and I don't have time to call and wait to give a statement to the police" for the rest of them

You know, years ago I would of been hesitant to believe such stories. Because for the most part I was brought up to help people. I've had my fair share of picking up people walking down the road. I live in the country side, so those walkers have a long trip a head of them.

But with seeing so many "dash cam" videos of such acts, I would now believe such stories. If one works at a job where the boss can't excuse you for being late because you were doing your due diligence of being a helpful human. Then that boss can shove it. lol

A lot of people are afraid of being sued.
People here in Ca make a living at it.

The compensation culture is getting totally out of hand - even over here.

I once assisted a black man that had fallen of his bike, Road bike, narrow tires, went into soft sand fell and hit his head and was bleeding from nose and ears.

While I was assisting him another black couple came down the road and pulled over to help.

I had my daughter, about 5-6 at the time with me and she got to witness racism first hand that day from that couple.

They were accusing me of hitting him instead of taking care of the patient, internal bleeding. He did not remember falling but you could see his tracks in the sand and there was no damage to the bike.

They finally backed off and I gave him a ride back to the church they all came from and they called paramedics.

This is a reason people will not get involved.

I also had a lot of questions to answer that day from my daughter.
