I must admit this is quite entertaining.

For example:

Original: Grandma got run over by a reindeer, walking home from our house Christmas eve. You can say there's no such thing as Santa, but as for me and grandpa we believe.

Final: However, our house Christmas Eve, Reindeer Grandma, Grandpa Santa's house from the government, that is, to me, is as follows. Please walk in and say.

Considering you're a Sabres fan. It's not hard to believe you would find something so pointless and mind numbing, quite entertaining.

Could be worse...I could be a Leafs fan. Because it's hard to believe that something as pointless and mind numbing as a Leafs game (where the outcome is known before the start) is exciting to you people.

Ha ha, nice try my friend.... I'd rather jam lemon soaked bamboo shoots underneath my finger nails than watch the joke that is Leaf hockey.

Montreal is the only team in the game...

That is fun, but it proves an important thing, unless you understand the two languages and using it to save some time (after all probably something like 80% will be usable) yu should not translate on line anything important. Even small mistakes can become important and help turn something around (it can also make you look like a fool.)

several years ago a co-worker that worked in the US moved here, his name was Chew and responding to a guy (who is francophone) decided since he was in Canada now he would respond in French. He wrote the e-mail, translated and then asked someone for a confirmation on the translation. The funny thing was that the translator saw "chew" and translated it to mastication and tried to make the sentence make sense with that.

Ah, then I can forgive you, somewhat. I could have sworn at one time that you said something in support of the Leafs...

Should be a good season then, I think we're pretty evenly matched and there could be some interesting games between us.

And our mutual hate of Toronto makes everything better.

Mark Twain did this way over a hundred years ago. It started with a hero, one Miles Standish, whose name translated to Kilometres Deboutish....

Original:
Too much time on my hands, it's ticking away with my sanity. I've got too much time on my hands, it's hard to believe such a calamity. I've got too much time on my hands and it's ticking away from me. Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands. Too much time on my hands.

Final:
My hand at the moment of death, many people, I would be crazy. I was in my hand, I think the accident, there are many problems. And I must have heard a lot of time, you need to get all of my time. Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands. Too much time on my hands.

We thank you I sigh. Hopes.

This is the sort of stuff you'll find here.
Here are sorted to find something like this.

Equilibrium in two steps!

Notice that there's no "I" in "team" but you can't have "equilibrium" without a dose of librium.

Actually, that web site's idea, equilibrium, is sort of strange. I found when learning German and when translating that you have to go back and forth from dictionary to dictionary because every word has not one meaning but a cluster, a set of meanings, and you only have success in translation if the meaning sets in the two languages overlap sufficiently and with the meaning you intend.

There's the classic Jimmy Carter's idiot translator who didn't learn the first lesson about "know." When we know a fact, that's the proper definition. But to say "know a person" in most European languages requires a completely separate verb. Otherwise it's carnal knowledge. Carter told a Polish official something about screwing him.

I think the site just uses google translate from English to Japanese and back until either
a) English-> English is the same = equilibrium
b) reaches max# of iterations (and then it tells it gives up and equilibrium might never be met)

and you only have success in translation if the meaning sets in the two languages overlap sufficiently and with the meaning you intend.

but auto translators can't know what you mean. it also does not necessarily work, if A can translate to B then B can be translated to A but it is a good idea for auto translators.
