Networked the X-Box to the computer so I could share the music. To do this you have to use Windows Media Player. Media player resized all the album art! No warning no notice. 16 thousand files messed up!

Nice huh? I love it when a program makes decisions for you. My favorite thing is when a new piece of software associates all graphic files to it.

My computer related rant... I ordered a dell notebook for my sister and cleaned off all the bundled nonsense and set it to Windows Classic to help make her transition easier. Every time she turns the computer on its either windows classic or vista's UI. She made a 1 hour (each way) trip out to my house when this first happened and it continues to happen.

With my own laptop.. the desktop icons are randomly jumbled everytime i dock or undock it.

I installed the newest version of Nero and it did the same thing. I couldn't find anything in any of the setting to change the association so I contacted tech support. They told me it was easy just use open and use this program all the time except the Nero icon never went away and half the time they wouldn't re-associate. I use more free Windows programs and get better support from than I do on any of the stuff I've paid for. I had to reinstall the software for my HP 3 in 1 but the scanner is missing in the HP software but I can get a free third party software and it scans fine. And the software industry can't figure out why their software gets pirated!

hmmm....

This is why I was always use the "custom" or "advanced" set-up option when installing SW. You can pick and choose what features and how the SW will function. I've installed Nero (for example) several times and have never had any issue with it forcing itself into the default file association.

I don't assume to say that this is the case with everything available, but it is my experience with Nero, VLC, blah blah blah.....

...as far as your cover art problem. I have no clue what SW it is, but I have some lingering memory of some editing program that will do resizing on multiple files at the same time. Maybe it was mentioned in a old thread about altering graphics for channel icons, or something or other.... Sorry I'm being so vague, but it may be worth a google search.

If you get lucky and find something, just remember to unclick the file association box while doing the install. ;)

I googled "resizing multiple graphic files" and found this link within the the top five.

[Link: topshareware.com]

There seems to be several options out there. How well they work....?....I have no idea.

Best of luck

I could go on for days about my absolute disgust for all things Microsoft....single biggest piece of sh*t ever marketed and the sloth-brained general public lets them commandeer a 90% marketshare.

I installed the newest version of Nero . . .

I've always used Nero and was going to buy 9 until, that is, I read the reviews on Amazon.

People eagerly anticipating 7, though in reality it's what Vista should have been had they taken their time. Of course they wouldn't then have been able to charge a few hundred more $, £, ¥, € etc.

I hate WMP. The whole "sync" function is terrible. First time I plugged my MP3 player into my new computer, WMP started adding every other audio file on my hard drive to it. It thought that it should add every audio file on my hard drive to the library, and then sync the library with the player.

Which is not at all what I wanted.

My son wanted to try it out and I thought that it was a cool idea. I use Foobar for my media player (LOVE IT - MS AND APPLE COULD LEARN A LOT) and have all my media sized 350x350 for my Foobar scheme. Along with resizing from the 350x350 to 200x200 it created AlbumArtSmall.jpg. Every time I think of it I get pissed. Your screwed with software if you by it retail and it sucks your stuck with it.

Bump...I've been using that foobar program for a few days now and I love it. The ability to customize the tree on the left by artist, album, etc is wonderful.

It's a lot better than WMP or iTunes. Not a particular fan of either.
