Ya, I'm looking forward to it as well...

It's rare that something even remotely close to original comes out.

I don't have a single complaint. This is one of the freshest movies i have ever seen. There was a slight hint at a part 2 but it might be wishful thinking on my part.

The movie is entertaining and injects a little bit of irony about many of the social issues humanity faces. I rarely purchase a movie after seeing it @ the theater but im definitely getting the Blu-ray so i can watch it with my PJ.

original? isnt it a bit like alien nation the tv series? or have i mis read the plot? The storylines of Alien nation generally revolved around morality plays on the evils of racism and bigotry using Newcomers as the discriminated minority. As fictional immigrants, Newcomers could "stand in" for hot-button social issues about African-Americans and Mexican-Americans (as well as sexual minorities like gays) and invert the usual expectations. For example, during the run of the series, George became pregnant (the male of his species carrying the fetus for part of its gestation) and during much of the episode dialog included such lines as, "If you females had to feel the pain we males feel during pregnancy, there wouldn't be any babies." The series offered insightful social commentary by illustrating what it means to be human and the often bizarre rituals we observe.

part of district 9 is along those lines from what i have read..having said all that i cant wait till its released over here

Rather what I thought, though I was thinking more of the film than the TV series.

Other than the obvious "stranded aliens on earth" bit the 2 are nothing alike.

SPOILER ALERT!! DONT READ ANYMORE IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW DETAILS ABOUT THE MOVIE!!

This batch of aliens has no intentions on stopping here but they run out of fuel. They are able to make more fuel out of whats on the ship but it takes 20 years to produce it. They sit quietly in their ship when the humans decide to cut their way into the ship. They find emaciated aliens and they begin a good will campaign that turns into a nightmare much like any other refugee camp. Google "south african refugee camp" and you will understand the irony/similarity to real life.

An evil greedy corporation exists that intends on reverse engineering the alien weapons but they are bio specific meaning only the aliens can fire the weapons. The humans are essentially keeping them here and keeping them locked in their camp where they live like animals.

If your a science fiction fan you will love it.

You bastard.....

Why in earth would you post spoilers...? Fortunately, I had my finger posed for another quick scroll when I noticed the warning.

Now I'm going to be tempted.

I have to agree and say it's one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

Although it is a little predictable (what movie isn't), I found myself still unsure of how it was going to end in the last 5 minutes. Very rare.

And just enough black comedy to make it even more attractive!
