I need to make a DVD of a slide show but without a time line. Basically I want to control when the picture goes to the next slide by hitting chapter skip or next or whatever. I cannot figure out for the life of me how to do it this way.
I bought Roxio 2009 thinking it would be there or easy but nothing like I want to do. Is there another program such Windows Movie Maker, or something similar that's free that I can do this? Am I totally missing this concept or what? I'm fairly computer savvy and can program but this is killing me. I'm going to feel real stupid if its something totally easy.
Real quick the concept is to have pictures that I can burn to a disc and play a slide show manually OR do a Main Menu just like a DVD has have selections of lets say job A, Job B, and Job C. I can then click one just like in a DVD movie menu. Then it goes to the Job pictures and just hit next/chapter skip to manually go through them. This is for TV viewing on a disc nothing streamed.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What the intended pupose of the DVD? Is it a portfolio to show prospective clients? I think what you're looking for is something that will give you "Powerpoint-like" features? I'm not aware of affordable authoring programs that could do that. Not saying there isn't, I'm just not aware of one. I do believe you MAY be able to accomplish this in Adobe Encore, though I'm not positive.
