Hi,

I just got a new Maxima w/ BOSE sound system. There is a button on the face of head unit labeled "AUTOP".
The owner's manual really doesn't adequately describe the use of this button, and I haven't figured it out yet. Anyone know what this button is supposed to do and how one might make use of it?

Thanks much!

Bill

Bill, I don't know, but I would be willing to venture a guess....maybe it's 'autoplay', like while a tape is rewinding, or 'autoprogram' to store the 5 or 10 strongest stations.

Does the manual give a hint that we may be able to epand upon? Tell us what's there. Another option would be to ask the seller.

Larry, thanks for response.

Owner's Manual says: "AUTOP (Automatic preset) button: To select the preset FM, AM or PTY station, push the AUTOP button for less than 1.5 seconds. To preset the FM, AM OR PTY station, push the AUTOP button for more than 1.5 seconds."

When I futz around w/ the button, it seems to works as some sort of toggle between whatever station is programmed into it and what station you were last listening to. But, it is not simply that because you can disrupt the pattern, and I haven't yet been able to see a pattern to this disruption, otherwise I'd describe it. It seems there is some context sensitivity to it, but I can't quite understand it. In the meantime, I've emailed BOSE customer service to see if they'll share the secret. Next time I play w/ it I'll try to discern any pattern(s) to describe in detail.

Thanks.

I got it now!!! The P stands for Priority. If there's one particular station you want to reach quickly (for instance, the best traffic or weather station in your area, or just music if you need an oldie fix), you can set it by tuning in that station, then holding the AUTOP button for longer than 1.5 seconds.

(Just think of it as another preset button, except, if I'm not mistaken, it works regardless of the band you happen to be in; it will still go to the same station. For example, if you set the AUTOP to 1500 AM, and you're now listening to 106.7 FM, it will still take you to 1500 AM)

Now, whenever you want that station, just tap the button (for less than 1.5 sec.). It's kinda like the channel 9 button on a CB radio. It's the same channel 9, just a shortcut, so you don't have to tune it manually.
