I want to be able to get 5.1 sound from my Xbox. My receiver was already prewired to my plasma TV with component video cable as part of the home building process. I have the Denon 1708 receiver. I know that I can't go into the Denon with HDMI since this will mess up the video (as it is component video out to the TV). Is there a cable that would allow me to go in to the Denon with component video and an optical cable for audio? I can't seem to find this cable (if it exists).

Take that and add whatever optical cable you choose. Done.

Next time, try posting in the "custom installers lounge", instead of the "intermission" forum.

I don't know what "OT" is??? So now I have 7 responses and no answer to the question. I already looked at the cable options on the Xbox website, but couldn't tell if any of the cables they offer would solve my problem; thus my question on this forum.

Good OT, or bad OT?

STAMP! Let the Turkeys decide.

Cool - the link really helped. I did not realize that the component HD AV cable had an opitcal port on it.

Thank you

Man alive...if you actually read and clicked on my link that immediately followed your initial post the answer was right there in front of you.

If you take the product description from my link:

"Play high-quality audio with the included stereo connection or use the optical audio port for digital sound."

and then read my sentence following the link:

"Take that and add whatever optical cable you choose. Done."

You have your answer. Short of me coming to your house and hooking it up what else do you need?

Not trying to be a dick here but if you do some investigating and actually read and listen to people you won't have to complain about 7 posts and not having an answer, even though you did have THE answer immediately.

p.s. I won't even bother responding to your post regarding an MX-810 and Xbox360 commands....why? Because if you actually open up the MX editor you will find that they are in there.
