People! We need lots and lots of testing to be done on the new forum Testing Place before Daniel can implement it system wide. Please come and try out anything and everything you can think of to try and break the test area so that Daniel can move it to the entire site as soon as possible. The testing area has been there for a fair while now, and bugs are still being found, but by only a few people. There's bound to be more, but we need to get more people with different ideas over there! Let's all get over there and help Daniel out! [Link: remotecentral.com]Thanks! Greg :-)

But you're doing such a wonderful job. And talking of bugs, I've just come across this. Don't worry Daniel, there's hope yet.

Back away from the Sparc64 systems, Daniel!
Don't say you haven't been warned!
Now, the rest of you get over to the Test Forum and TEST!!!

Is this the place to make a feature request? If so here goes, if not oh well here goes anyway...I just thought it would be cool and I have no idea how it's accomplished, but one of the things I find interesting with MSN messenger is you can see what other people are currently listening to. Is it possible to show this information of the RC members when they are logged in...maybe underneath the member status?

That's currently not on the slate for this upgrade... it involves server-side tracking of each member, which isn't a part of this particular update. And the reason it's not part of this upgrade is I'm already making big changes to critical areas, and I want to limit the number of major things that are being changed at one time.
Maybe next update. :-)

Maybe next update. :-) Oh well, it was worth a shot. I appreciate your efforts nonetheless. I did a little research on the server side tracking and client side tracking. My web server uses some of this to report stats on visitors to the site. How to implement more features like this is beyond me. That's why guys like you get paid the big bucks :-)

Basically every time someone visits the forum the server needs to record who, when and what you were doing into a database. It can then use that information to compile lists of who's where or online. That's a lot of extra load on a database, and I don't feel comfortable adding that at this time - at least not until I know how the new system (which is itself going to add much more database load) behaves when it's getting hammered.

FYI: People... this thread wasn't supposed to compete with Daniel's "Sticky" thread at the top of the page. The "Sticky" thread is [Link: remotecentral.com]It was intended just as a reminder to keep testing. I'd still post items to the actual Testing Forum as mentioned above or to Daniel's Sticky thread at the top of the Intermission forum. That means less places for Daniel to have to look and respond.
