I'm new to the forums (and the industry). A friend of mine found out that I registered here and insisted that I inquire about this story.

(I know the search function would be more fruitful here, but I suppose he wants me to hear other people's reactions... I have no idea what to expect, or what this is all about, I only aim to appease my friend by asking)

So... what is this that I hear regarding Mr. Stanley's Water Line?
Still looking for a discrete "Off" code for my wife...

Sheesh, I haven't heard the word plimsolls for 20 years. My in-laws are from England but we don't talk.... thank goodness.

I haven't either. It's amazing what dormant memories can be stirred, by even the most innocuous of comments.

Ah . . .

PS
I did ask, but one gets the feeling he thinks of me in the same way as he does of a certain Ms Palin. N.B. I do wear glasses (to read), but the figure isn't quite as svelte.

I bet a search would almost be useless.... That story, although funny, has been hammered to death and any search would give countless hits on just off handed comments. Truth be told, I don't think I ever read the original story. I did get bored at work one night and created this in honour of his blunder...:

I think that is what will bring that post up.

All of my UH OH's

_____________________________________________________________________

UH OH: Time running out.. walking very fast thru kitchen headed towards control room.. kicked cats water bowl and it flew across the room and broke into a million bits.

CYA Solution: Pulled another bowl from cabinet, filled with water, cleaned up broken bowl, picked up new bowl from crate & barrel and replaced next time i was out.
_____________________________________________________________________

UH OH: Customer has no lighting in highrise condo, suns going down, new cabinet with glass doors, me with a ladder... its dark now.. i go to move my ladder and forget to close the glass door. Broken glass door. Big chunk of wood gouged out of the floor.

CYA Solution: N/A I couldnt fix this one :).
_____________________________________________________________________

UH OH: I mount a plasma, pocket door wont open.

CYA Solution: I spray expanding foam into the hole i made in the hollow door then use wood putty and sand paper to finish it off. Customer just had place painted so i was able to touch it up.
_____________________________________________________________________

Things i have done to myself

Van towed, many times while i would "run up for a second".

Fell sideways off ladder trying to reach the second speaker, never did that again.

Backed van into a trench the landscapers dug in the dark. Couldnt get the van out. I had to take brick pavers and build the trench out while backing up and pulling forward until i was finally able to drive out of it. It was the dead of winter during a snow storm.

39, and i thought I was a goof!

I recall in my very early install days, standing in the middle of this huge living room, stripping wire with a razor knife. The carpet was this special, white, $60 a sq. ft. stuff... I slipped with the knife and slashed my finger open, and bled all over the place.

I'm guilty of that on more than one occasion as well.

I still end up stripping most wires with a razor blade because I can never find where I put the stupid strippers. I need about 5 pairs.

Oh, and thanks to Daniel's awesome new search feature, I think I may have found the right story:
