A new version of Remote Central's forum system is now available for your testing, with new features and an all-new look. As this is a major change from the current forum system's structure, there is only currently one forum available for posting, plus three imported forums for test browsing and searching.

Looks good Daniel. probably means that you have been busy doing this and had not much time to update the files section.

Exactly - this has been completely occupying my time for a while now. I know you've submitted some files; I don't think I'm going to be able to get to them before CEDIA but rest assured they're safe waiting for my attention.

There are a LOT of new features, but I won't spoil the fun of discovering them for yourself. :-)

I like the look, much cleaner, really nice

I must be a bit slow 'cause I couldn't figure out how to "view code", "reply" or "quote & reply". It's gotta be me and I'm sure that someone will soon point out the obvious

Reply & Quote & Reply are in the grey bar at the bottom of each message. As is Edit if it's your message. But note that the 3 sample forums do NOT allow you to post (they're just there for sample browsing), so there won't be a grey bar. You'll have to go to the official test forum at the top for that.

View Code was actually never originally intended to be a feature (you could just try to edit anyone's message), but I've kept it around, it's just moved to the "view single post" screen.

Finally, make sure it shows you as logged in in the upper right. The new forum requires the new login cookie (used ever since I added private messages) and if you don't have it you won't have any of the new member-only features. Most of the old forum, here, works with either cookie (although you won't have private messages unless it's the new one).

Must be something wrong with browsing with my version of IE. I don't get anything other than text...no bars to speak of. And the post numbering is in a very difficult to view yellow.

I'm at work, so I'm not sure what version of IE the network uses. I'll dig into it and let you know.

.... Version 6.0.2800.1106CO, SP1

Daniel,

Had a bit of a funny message appear when I posted a corrected page of my T.W.A.T. stats. table, but it's there nonetheless.

Wonderful stuff, though I do have to ask (from a purely selfish point of view) if you intend keeping the 15 posts per page as the new default?

DJY - could you clarify "funny message"?

Smokinghot - post numbering should be yellow on navy blue, similar to in here. If your screen is mostly white, hit REFRESH to hopefully get the new CSS file (although it *was* made live a week ago and you should have it by now).

Ah, glad that was it... There might be a proxy server or something that was caching the old file.

That message will ONLY appear if the forum ID wasn't passed to the program... and I can't seem to find any way that it wouldn't be passed (that part operates the same as in here).

If it happens again, let me know exactly what you were doing... creating a new thread? replying to a thread? had you quoted? or previewed? etc.

I'm not a huge fan of the separation between posts...the way it looks like each is a separate box. And the gray bar on the bottom is a tad too noticeable in my opinion. Maybe lightening it would make it less obtrusive.

Looks great!
