All PC remote softwares I have found is for controling the PC with an IR remote control.
I want to do the opposite: control my home theatre using PC. Thats is not a big problem, just using winlirc. BUT I want a web interface so I can control the HT with any web-browser.
I found a link on winlirc homepage to an italian guy who have done just this, but I was not able to get that working. Most of it was written in italian and poorly translated english.

Itīs not nesecary to use winlirc, as long as I get the web interface.

This is the Intermission Forum, the one reserved for general chit-chat. You might have a better response if you ask in the Home Theater Forum.

If you want an answer...try asking a question. I'll also throw out there...maybe posting in the HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) forum may get you a little more advice.

You could even try a "SEARCH" in that forum. I know of software discussed recently that may do exactly what you want.

I'm just saying.... Do what you like.

smokinghot: I thought I was pretty clear what I wanted without using a questionmark.
Of course I could asked "does anybody have an idea of how to solve this?"

Before I posted I did a search and found 37 relevant threads, but not one that handled my issue. (on the whole forum since dawn of time)

The reason why I posted it in the intermission is that I thought this was not a real HTPC question, more of a kind-of-a-webserver question.

Thanx for your tips anyway.

According to member "GMPCM" this software can be controlled via remote internet connection.

[Link: hd-radiopc.com]

Now I've never used it, and I believe this member is also the creater, so I don't know how much weight I put into his baised opinion. Worth checking out none the less.

Good luck bud...

There are programs like Girder and others that allow control add in a Global Cache box and you now have ir and 232 ports that are on the LAN

I have never used a PC to control anything, always have done Crestron and Remote Systems
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

In order to have a web interface you need to have a web server on the PC or HTPC that controls your AV system. A web server is not something that a non-professional would even want to be responsible for, and is also something that may violate your ISP's terms of service.
The proper way to accomplish Internet remote control is through a client/server system, where only the specific software client can obtain port access based upon a successful encrypted authentication process. Any other type of connection attempt is simply dropped as if the port had been firewalled all along.
If you expose your system to the Internet using anything less than this, you may be in for a very enlightening experience. A hacker defacing a web page is not uncommon and obviously a nuisance, but a hacker that can max your AV systems volume out for hours while your away is a completely different matter.

If all you need to do is provide control from another PC on your home network, running a tiny secure client software interface is certainly no harder than opening your web browser and it can provide much more elaborate control than any web interface could. The network remote version of our HD Radio receiver control system is a pretty good example. It would be quite impossible to provide the level of security required to legally transmit radio station audio over the internet using a web control interface, and those that try doing this from an insecure web interfaced system would likely find themselves in court being sued by the RIAA for an unlicensed public broadcast. The client server system we employ provides secure place shifting such as this over the internet without the risk of unauthorized access to the audio stream.

GMPCM.
Thanx for your reply.
I already have 2 webservers running on the net. One apache2 on a Linux machine, and another server on a windows puter (running on other ports). the security to access the webpage is obviously very important, and that is something that I can take care of.
I donīt violate my ISP terms by setting up servers online.
The thing I need is some webserver script that commuticate with my existing winlirc configuration. or a new software for my hardware with built in webserver.

As I said in my first post, there seem to be an existing working sollution. found here:

But I cant get it working. PHP isnīt my cup of tea, and looking at the code makes it even harder, since most of it is in italian.

Good grief, serious answers in the Intermission Forum. What ever next . . . Gordon Brown admits it's all too much and resigns.

Somehow I doubt it, but one can live in hope.

So what you're really looking for is someone who can translate Italian into Swedish?

djy: no not really, but understandable english would be just fine.
Iīm currently getting help from a php-guru, so Iīm hoping he can solve the issues.

Smokinghot: just because this section is made for goofing around means that a serious question isnīt allowed?
and all serious subjects must be goofed? wow - whereīs "non-serious-just-goofing-police" when you need `em
;)

Well go ahead, I donīt mind. Personally I love "goofing"

I would like you to post back whatever you come up with. Curious what options there are and how they worked for you.... But until then:
