No not yet. Is it worth a look?

All a much of a muchness methinks. That said, the pages do appear to load quicker, the font size of our forum signatures appears to have grown and the rendering of the frames of my T.W.A.T. stats. table has moved more towards that of Opera 9.27.

And talking of Opera, I've just briefly tried the newly released 9.5. Looks good, has got some nice touches, but my table frames look horrible (like Safari) and it doesn't do the triangles very well either.

I'll take a few snap shots and e-mail them.

Shows how observant I am as the table frames and the traingles look ok to me, but I'll wait for your images before I comment as I have been running Opera for years and only upgrade. So there may be some font/image settings that I teaked a long time ago that may not have been reset.

I must say that 9.5 renders much, much faster so to me it has gone back to the Opera speeds of old. Tended to be a bit clunky in the last few updates

Thanks for taking the time to send the screen shots. Personally I think the table frames are in the eye of the beholder. Opera renders them thicker and probably not as cleanly as Firefox. However the triangles are chalk and cheese, Opera seems to cut the point off, which is due to the default font. Change that and they look as good as Firefox. But the point for most users would be - why bother!

Opera, like Firefox, uses Times New Roman 16 as the default font to display a web page. Why the arrows look lousy in Opera I do not know considering they have the same font. I had changed the default font in my Opera to Georgia 14 - why I don't know, 'cause I can I suppose - and the points look okay.

Also since I have switch back to my laptop from my home PC I have suddenly realised how bad it's screen is too!

I'm a little bemused.

I can see that Times New Roman 16 is listed as being the default FF font, but I see things in Tahoma - because there's a check box in the Advance settings that allows a web page to use its own fonts. (Uncheck it and sure enough everything goes TNR).

Similarly I can see the normal font setting in Opera as being (TNR 16), but I still see things in Tahoma, although I cannot find a setting/check box that allows the page to do this. Changing the TNR font doesn't appear to do anything.

I've no problem with Tahoma, I find it "clean" and easy to read (unlike serif type font). What I find puzzling is that Damik is saying that changing the font resolves the problem of the triangles, yet the only way I can get the font to change in Opera (unlike in FF) is to disable the author style, which then makes the page look horrible.

Ah, sorry... In Opera (version 9) there are two ways to change the font. The easiest is via the menu option Tools, Preferences or Ctrl + F12 and go to the Advanced tab. Fonts is the fifth item down on version 9.5. "Web page text normal text" is the one to change. Of course you can play with the rest.

If you want to adjust the settings I suggest you back up the opera6.ini file, which may exist a couple of times on your computer. Back up the latest one.

You can also change the fonts via config. A handy process, if you know what you are doing, and good to use if you like playing as Opera is highly configurable. For fonts this process is a pain because you need to know the exact font name, although it is the place to easily reset to the default fonts

In the address bar type "opera:config" and go to "fonts". Any changes will need to be saved

I hope this makes sense, if not try

That's what I've tried and it has no effect unless I change the style - Tools/Preferences/Web Pages - Choose preferred fonts and colours for pages without specific style and below is Normal Font - Times New Roman, which is the same as "Web page text normal text" under the advanced tab.

I've not tried the config. method, but having checked the links I can't see it doing anything different to the above.

Ah hah...I have just found a glitch (bug) thanks to your input. If you change the font but do not change the font size then nothing happens. You seem to need to change both!! Give that a try.

Oops! Belay that. The font size changes, but not the font.
