what happened yesterday

I got up at 5.30am (i was working till 1.00 am and went to bed at 2.00am) and got a bus at 6.10 with my wife and youngest daughter.
We arrived at the stadium at 7.10am we walked down massive barrier area when people pushed in and ran past smaller moving people at 7.10 there was about 2000 people already there. It was very very cold the warm up people were good and they went through a set of scenes with the whole crowd , as you were walking along you could see people who were there for the freak element one guy who you will see is Colin a short Elvis impersonator. As with any event food and drink prices were extortionate we waited hours in the queue outside , the warm up guy said were were going in from 9.00am but this was to keep our spirits up. as we went in we were given a sticker mine was 1566 .you would think this meant you would be seen in the stickers order but as you go in we were sent by the staff to a high level of the stadium. i was mixed with people in the 3000's we were asked to sit down in the stadium again outside.

They then said they needed to do more crowd shots for the camera so we all did lots of silent cheering.
then they set up what they called judges booths theses are just a simple flat screens with a number on it They carried these out and set them up along the goal line 9 screens in total numbered 2-12 a judge on a chair sat behind the screen an hour after they set them up . they had difficultly setting them up as it was windy and freezing cold.

they then had x factor stewards to pull pull out the contestants from the rows nearest the pitch . now the pushy people who had obviously been last year knew where to sit and got selected first.

over the coming hours we saw lots of people push in and move down to the lower seats eventually the stewards realised this and threw some out but not many.

the system was if you were selected then you would be given a golden ticket if not they put a black cross through your sticker.

I noticed that some booths gave out lots of gold tickets and others did not i was sat infront of booth 8 and i saw that booth hand out 1 ticket in all the time i sat there booth 2..3..6..10..and 12 gave loads out booth 10 let a elvis impersonator (colin)and a big black guy dressed as a pimp through.

At about 6.30 PM cold to the bone i went in front of the screen there was a tiny woman in a pointed hooded coat AND a second tall lady behind my screen, the little lady asked what i did for a living then said ok go ahead i sang ok but there was no where to do warm ups at all , i think i did the best i could best i , a simple i think its going to be a no today came from the little lady , i tanked her for the time and went and collected by frozen blue wife and daughter we left the stadium at 7.00 ish.

My experience was that it was bloody cold and that pushy people got seen first , that if you seated infront of the right screen or you dressed like a freak you had a better chance.

So many hours sat in the freezing cold was terrible i am just glad it did not rain or snow!!

I won't go again next year .

I started this as i was kept being asked to by family and friends to go in for it ..i knew i am not x factor material but now i have proof i am not.

To anyone wanting to try out... go for it !!!..its the chance of a life time i have a new respect for any of the TV contestants that survived the audition process oh and do wrap up warm.
