I’ve been having some pretty weird dreams of late and was wondering if anyone would care to comment . . .

I’m in a building, which appears to be a college of some sort (lots of youngish people milling about); am joined at a reception desk by one said young person (who collects a file “CT5” from the receptionist) and am then led down a guarded corridor into a room for a meeting. It quickly becomes apparent that I am involved with a clandestine security organisation (the college thing being a cover), and that the meeting is centred on drawing up plans for a covert operation. We (the young fellow and I) are tasked to oversee the destruction of a crane in Spain (that’s definitely not in the plain).

Now I happen to know it’s a crane because of the CT designation. (All our cranes at work are CT something or other, though interestingly we have no CT5). It’s not just any old crane though; apparently it’s the only crane in the area that can perform a particular specialist task, though alas I cannot recall what that task actually is. (I do remember seeing some engineering drawings of a thing that resembled a giant jam doughnut, and some maps of the local area, but not what was actually discussed). Whatever the case though, because of this particular ability it possess it is felt that it poses a threat to our national security, and as such has to be taken out.

The meeting then develops into a discussion on how this is going to be achieved. It would seem the young man and I are to go Spain, and in a scenario not too dissimilar to that of Domingo Chavez in “Clear and Present Danger” are to highlight the target for a bombing, missile, rocket strike (the young man would position himself to the north of the target, and I would take the south). It’s at this point, however, that the story takes something of a bizarre turn.

Whilst discussing tactics, a nuclear bomb goes off outside. I clearly hear the bang and see the mushroom cloud rising (amazing colours), and realising the shock wave is soon to follow (fearing injury from flying glass) I immediately throw myself to the floor. Fortunately though, it soon transpires the device is not too powerful and the building survives intact. We then learn that the target was an American owned biscuit factory and set off by an extremist environmental group. And if that’s contradictory enough we also discover that it was a dirty bomb, deliberately designed as such in order to prevent reuse of the site.

Like all good cliff-hanger TV serials, the action stops here. I wake up. (Tried to tune into episode 2 today, but couldn't remember the channel).

What do you think? Am I completely gaga?

Of course your dream starts off in a place of learning, because your mind is trying to teach you something. The crane is a representation of the size of the hardships that you must overcome in life, and the clandestine organization represents your friends and family whom will help you along the way, but must never know the true nature of your issues (the only important part of CT5 is the 5, but I'll leave that up to you to figure out).

The crane in Spain indicates that you feel that your hardships are rooted in sources outside of your immediate control, and have so far not been identified, although their effects are apparent and you must strike out in their general direction to resolve them.

At this point your mind decides to tackle another problem: the destruction of the biscuit factory is telling you that you fear for your long term health and safety, but your concerns are rooted more in the potential cost of ongoing healthcare rather than any specific medical issue.

Finally, the fact that the bomb was dirty indicates that you must finally break down and clean out the dark recesses of your fridge, or you may never want to open the door again.

Give up on all the dream analysis, write it all down and sell it to Hollywood! So far it's got no plot; but what the hell, it's better than most of the so called thriller cum action stuff that is pumped out of one or two of the movie studios at the moment.

And by the way, get back to bed...I want to know what happens next!

How's about some CIA type operative sees my post and thinks, "He knows about our plan to blow up the crane in Spain. We need to take him out." Or has something like that already been done?

...And they're testing the governments new dream generator (sorta like wi-fi to the brain) on you... I'd say it's working, but now they must kill you.

It would make "What Dreams May Come Part II" a whole lot better.

Hmm...not too many times!

So what actor should play you? A nerdy looking Elijah Wood, or maybe Matt Damon, or a more experienced (senior) type like Harrison Ford. And none of them seem to do that good an English accent anyway so maybe it'll have to be Alan Rickman
