I thought extreme weather was caused by butterflies.
2 of them must have flapped their wings at the same time.

I forget. Is chocolate good for you or bad for you this week?

Why are you worrying about global warming, you'll be
dead before you see any major effects

Alas that truly is an inconvenient truth.

A gun! Goodness no, that would undermine her carbon neutrality.

Dinosaurs died out 66 million years ago. Getting the
facts right would be the first desirable step to an intelligent
debate.

Would you maybe guess that's what he's trying to do?
Short of declaring himself world emperor he needs to
convince the other six billion souls on this globe to
go along first.

lighten up works. I didn't expect to provoke that big a reaction to my comments. The dinosaur thing was a joke. The point is that we haven't even hit thr high mark for global temperature and that high mark apparently happened long before man was around. Also, Mr. Gore would be a lot more believable if he practiced what he preaches. Saying it's OK for him to contribute to global warming because he bought carbon credits from his own shill corporation is blatant hypocrisy.
How hard can this be?

ok.. let's look at Greenland.

Do you know why it's called Greenland? Because it used
to be green. The Vikings had colonies there when it was
fertile farmland.

I thought the story was that Greenland was always frozen, but Iceland was the nice place and the Vikings gave them their respective names to entice people to Greenland and keep them away from Iceland.

I didn't say it was OK for him to contribute to global warming. I said it was OK to ignore him and look at the facts. I said it was not OK to use him as a diversion when you don't have real facts to discuss, like dinosaur farts.

No, we haven't hit the high mark for temperature for the history of the earth. We have, according to scientists I have heard speak, seen a global temperature rise occur in the last century that has never been equaled, and one that would normally take thousands of years.

Edit....

And, does living on Earth during it's warmest moment ever sound like fun?

Yes, farmland.

This was during the Medieval Warm period, something that
is (in)conveniently left out of my idiot cousin's little
mockumentary (I can't call it a documentary because it's
full of sh!t)

How is it that the ice cap on Greenland has been measured at hundreds of thousands of years old?

Amongst other things, the Vikings were known for their shovelling technology.

Nope, some Vikings migrated to greenland from iceland when the climate shifted and things warmed up alot. The evendece suggests that they even settled Newfoundland and visited the eastern seaboard

"Warm oceans stretched far north and south of the current tropics. Fossil crocodiles, for example, have been found in 45-million-year-old rocks in Greenland, and fossil palm trees are found in Antarctica. In western Washington, rock dating from 85 to 40 million years ago includes tropical marine fossils and a wide diversity of tropical plants, such as magnolia, banana plant relatives, and palm trees."

Man O' Man would it be nice to pick a banana in Washington, but an apple will have to do.

I care about the environment and myself.

I walk to the stores to do 90% of my shopping.

I ride my bike to commute here and there, I take public transportation regularly, I carpool when I go out with friends. I recycle much of my refuse... I simply refuse to do anything else!

I eat right... Not to many calories, the right kinds of fats, natural ingredients, cooking most of my meals. When I party it's another story, but the rest of the time it's everything in moderation.

I'm about as close to a hippie as it gets when taking care of myself and my environment, but that's because wish to be healthy and don't wist to live in a polluted environment. Not. Because I believe that if I pollute my environment I'm somehow killing the planet.

Other people who don't believe the GW fear mongers also care about the environment.

I have scientific proof that the climate will continue to change and fluctuate even if humankind should cease to exist.

Oh.. and my brain can beat up your brain. My brain is even strong enough to think for itself!

Well... I'm no scientist - (oh, you didn't know that?!?!)... but the vast majority of scientists are in agreement on this thing, and i hope like hell they are reading their slide rulers the wrong way!!!

In the meantime it wouldn't hurt to burn less fossil fuels & place a little more value on cleaning up the ol' planet.

I believe that the issue here is that the consensous of scientists believe that man's 21st century byproducts are rabidly accellerating the natural change.
